Acesso em:.https://repositorio.ufpa.br/handle/2011/17770Historical knowledge acquired in and outside the classroom is crucial for the intellectual development of students who, through it, will be able to deepen their historical understanding of the reality in which they find themselves and act more firmly and decisively, making choices that affect themselves and the society in which they live. From this perspective, the dissertation entitled “Image production to reflect regional history in history teaching: Cabanagem (1835-1840) from the perspective of memes” aims to broaden the discussion around regional history, seeking to bring students closer to this topic, creating conditions for them to take a leading role in the production of historical knowledge, in a way that is related to everyday life and, therefore, makes sense to teach and learn history. These elements have as one of their theoretical contributions the concepts of historical consciousness, narrative and historical culture of Rusen and Cerri. Thus, three classes of second-year high school students from the Pitágoras State High School, located in the city of Ananindeua, Pará, will discuss and present their views on the topic of Cabanagem, using the language of memes, which is so peculiar, part of their daily lives and has enormous potential for producing historical narratives. The methodology used for this work is based on the workshop class of Barca, Ramos and Antunes, aiming at the production of knowledge based on the students' prior knowledge.
