Research shows that the teaching of words formed by onset/rime promotes the emergence of textual reading and understanding of taught words and words formed by recombining the syllables of teaching words. This study verified the teaching of English as a foreign language to three visually impaired people using the Braille code. Conducted the teaching of conditional discriminations of words formed by onset and rime; evaluated the effect on the emergence of textual reading of new words formed from the recombination of onset and rime of the taught words; textual reading and understanding of recombined words and words combined by juxtaposition; plus copy performance and dictation using mobile alphabet. Two participants had 100% accuracy in the tests and one participant did not complete the study. It was concluded that the study is efficient to promote recombinative reading in people with visual impairment.
