Acesso em:.https://repositorio.ufpa.br/handle/2011/17829The production of cassava flour in the municipalities of the Geographical Indication of Farinha de Bragança (Bragança, Augusto Corrêa, Tracuateua, and Viseu) is a cultural and economic tradition, recognized by the INPI Indication of Origin seal, which attests to the unique quality, linked to the geographical source. This study analyzed the impact of the legislation of artisanal products (implemented by the Agricultural Defense Agency of the State of Pará) on registered and unregistered family production, considering the lack of adequacy to standards: only six establishments are regulated (three in Bragança, two in Tracuateua, and one in Augusto Corrêa), while Viseu and Santa Luzia do Pará have no records. Using a mixed approach (qualitative and quantitative), the research revealed that the legislation did not alter the traditional characteristics of flour, but promoted hygienic-sanitary improvements, adding value to the product. However, the infrastructure and financial investment requirements represent significant barriers, especially for small producers, who face lack of resources, credit difficulties, bureaucracy and resistance to technologies. In addition, it was identified widespread the absence of knowledge about the legislation and the importance of certification, suggesting a tension between regulatory standardization and the preservation of artisanal practices.
