Acesso em:.https://repositorio.ufpa.br/handle/2011/18088Concerns about safety and health at work have motivated numerous studies around the world and have favored the development of safety strategies that can reduce economic losses and morbidity and mortality among workers. Behavior-Based Safety (BBS), a subfield of Organizational Behavior Management (OBM), has provided empirical data on successful experimental designs in the workplace. Despite this, the application of such strategies in the informal and precarious market is still incipient. This research aimed to investigate the effects of interventions on the frequency of use of bicycle helmets, as personal protective equipment (PPE), in two samples of participants: platform fooddelivery bicycle drivers (Study 1) and outsourced employees who use bicycles to commute to work (Study 2). The experimental design consisted of access to the helmet and the sending of videos and banners with feedback (Study 1) and the addition of a third stage with the contingent presentation of additional safety and aesthetic accessories (Study 2). The effect of implementing an intervention package (Independent Variable) on helmet use (Dependent Variable) was evaluated in a multiple baseline design across participants. Results show that worker safety in these work contexts can be promoted by requiring companies to provide PPE, accompanied by programs to encourage its use to be implemented in person or through digital platforms.
