Programa de Pós-Graduação em Serviço Social.https://repositorio.ufpa.br/handle/2011/6699This study aimed to verify how is the resilience of the elderly who are part of the service Coexistence and Strengthening Linkages, a service which according to the National Social Assistance Policy prioritizes active aging, healthy and autonomous. The survey was conducted in a Centers References Social Assistance in the city of Santarém (West of Pará), with two elderly 64 year old who participated in the group. Resilience scale was used to select the two participants, they completed a sociodemographic questionnaire then were interviewed. The method used was oral history. The results showed that the service Coexistence and Strengthening Linkages contributes to the development of protective factors and older had in their past numerous situations in which protective factors contributed to resilience in the face of adversity. As for the aging and its adversities, the elderly group presents itself as a support network. Taking into account the concept of development used in this study the life span, in which human can develop until the last days of his life.
