News that were a cause of astonishment for readers and annoyance for the Catholic Church because the medium gained allies and critics by allowing press coverage of her deeds, especially the materialization of spirits, and showing how journalism easily surrendered to the fantastic and unusual, at the dawn of the 20th century in the city of Belém do Pará. The objective of the research is to see the journalistic coverage of fantastic elements, such as the medium and her powers, and its acceptance by journalism as important components of reality the social and history of a community.
