Following a case study methodology, the research included review of the literature, data collection in loco, analysis of the results and their implementation through the design of the Apurinã literacy material “Escrevendo em apurinã”. The literacy material was constructed in close collaboration with the Apurinã native speaker Norá, aiming to present in a didactic manner the Apurinã written system. The work also discusses how the material was developed, which difficulties were attested during this process, which criteria were considered in the sequencing and general organization of the content, which difficulties Apurinã professors had in understanding and using literacy materials in the classroom, and which solutions were found.
