Programa de Pós-Graduação em Educação.https://repositorio.ufpa.br/handle/2011/4475This dissertation aims to identify and analyze environmental changes occurring in the community remaining indigenous Dom Manuel, located in Barcarena - PA, from the intensification of industrial activities around the area of the community, seeking to understand how the environmental impacts of companies in traditional communities in Barcarena, and analyze and reflect on the process of adulteration of traditional communities across the industrial process and discuss the knowledge in the field of environmental education, as well as its policies as a key element for implementing sustainability in the region. The methodology used in this research is based on an interdisciplinary perspective, for data collection were carried out semi-structured interviews with community residents, as well as photographic records and observation techniques. From the analyzes it was found that the reality of the Community Dom Manuel and the relations between the residents have undergone profound changes since the implementation of the industries in the industrial area. The intensification of capitalist logic around the community Dom Manuel has provided throughout its process-characterization of their culture and consequently the loss of their identity, and modified their natural environment.
