Acesso em:.https://repositorio.ufpa.br/handle/2011/18283This study investigates the integrated protection of cultural and natural heritage through the conservation of green areas in Belém, Pará, located in the Brazilian eastern Amazon. Its primary objective is to advocate for this dual heritage valuation and to contribute to the development of public policies and management strategies that recognize these spaces as an essential part of this heritage. To achieve this, two specific objectives were defined: (A) to evaluate the heritage values of green areas within the municipal context, encompassing both environmental and biodiversity aspects, as well as the cultural and historical meanings these areas represent for the local community and regional identity; and (B) to reflect on the importance of integrating natural and cultural heritage into an interdependent system. A research approach combining qualitative and quantitative methods through a critical review of books, scientific articles, documents, and legislation was employed. The findings indicate that existing regulations play a crucial role in preserving these areas, although gaps and challenges persist in their implementation and integration into public management policies.
