Acesso em:.1982-5374https://repositorio.ufpa.br/handle/2011/13090The School of Agriculture and Veterinary Science (ESAV) was inaugurated in 1926 and, in 1969, federalized as Federal University of Viçosa (UFV). Between 1920 and 1940, the institution became a hegemonically male study site, nurtured in an institutional ethos of discipline, responsibility, and scientific rationality, termed the "Esavian spirit." This "spirit" aimed at a responsible and capable student body in the agrarian sciences. One of the vehicles to spread the spirit was the student newspaper "O Bonde", which in 1945 and 1963 gave voice to the students of that student campus. In order to analyze the articles published in those journals, we observed that "O Bonde" functioned as a policing device for attitudes that deviated from those espoused by the "Esavian spirit".
