Acesso em: .https://repositorio.ufpa.br/handle/2011/18515During the setting process of the Brazilian public administration, it is possible to perceive the presence of different management models, such as the Patrimonialist, the Bureaucratic, the Managerial and others. Such models, also understood as patterns of behavior of individuals regarding decision making processes and relationship with work within organizations, can be understood in relation to the concept of organizational culture.. This way, they are subject to study by the behavioral analysis of culture, whose metacontingency constitutes an important conceptual tool. Given the problems of efficiency faced by pubic administration and the complexity of management models currently in place in the Brazilian context, effective interventions in this type of issue requires a correct knowledge of the variables involved in the behavior of individuals and the way organizations operate in front of their context. Based on this, the objective of this study was to identify which contingencies and metacontingencies select and maintain the management models in place in the Brazilian public administration. For this, methodological guidelines of theoretical and conceptual research have been used, involving textual analysis of 60 articles in 23 national periodicals of humanities and applied social sciences, published between 1995-2018. The results showed that the selection and maintenance of metacontingency arrangements characteristic of each model was due to the interrelationship with contingencies arranged in the socioeconomic and political context of their environments.
