Acesso em:.https://repositorio.ufpa.br/handle/2011/18047The analysis of environmental fragility in the area surrounding the navigation channel of the Tucuruí Hydroelectric Power Plant lock, in the state of Pará, is justified by the growing disorderly occupation of the area, which has been intensifying the impacts on the environment. The region in question has high strategic importance for waterway transportation, being part of the Tocantins-Araguaia. Waterway, and is home to several communities that have settled in na unplanned manner.. The methodology adopted was based on the Analytical Hierarchical Process (AHP) method, which allowed the weighting of slope, land use and land cover criteria, and legal area, enabling the Generation of thematic maps and the classification of areas according to degrees of fragility. This demonstrates a significant advance in human occupation of environmentally fragile areas, and that these occupations are located in áreas with high or very high environmental fragility, aggravating the risks of erosion, silting, and loss of local biodiversity. In addition, the lack of urban planning, inspection, and public policies for land regularization contributes to the intensification of these processes.
