Acesso em:.https://repositorio.ufpa.br/handle/2011/18079This study seeks to understand the interfaces of environmental education in the Gurupí Piriá Extractive Reserve, as well as the possibilities for sustainability and a better quality of life in the Amazon region, both socioculturally and environmentally, by proposing integrated management measures. It will be developed in the Gurupí Piriá Marine Extractive Reserve (RESEX). This study was conducted in two communities in the municipality of Viseu: Basilia, located near the estuary region of the Piriá River, which is the predominant user of this estuary, and Fernandes Belo, the community where the functional headquarters of RESEX is located, on the banks of the ocean inlets, but also a user of the Piriá River. The ethnographic study formed the basis of the research, as it is necessary to live together to understand. This study was conducted through bibliographic research, documentary research, and field research. In the field research, the data collection instruments were: direct observation; photographic records; informal conversations; and a study of the life history of users of the Gurupí Piriá RESEX. This was done through visits and interaction with families, schools, RESEX, and other social organizations active in the two communities. As a result, it can be said that environmental education has been taking place in the communities that use the Gurupí Piriá RESEX through formal education since the early 2000s, with theoretical and practical classes, such as visits to rivers, which the communities use for domestic activities; through informal education with knowledge passed down from generation to generation through artisanal fishing, family farming, the use of rivers, and social interaction; and through non-formal education through institutions such as the Roman Catholic Church and the Gurupí Piriá RESEX. These different practices of environmental education need more support from public policies and more sensitivity from the local community to continue fighting for local and global environmental balance and, as a result, seeking better quality of life in RESEX and on the planet.ptAcesso AbertoAttribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 Internationalhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/Educação ambientalReserva extrativistaAmazônia brasileiraEnvironmental educationExtractive reserveBrazilian AmazonEducação ambiental e suas interfaces na Reserva Extrativista Marinha Gurupí Piriá, na Amazônia Costeira Brasileira.TeseCNPQ::CIENCIAS HUMANAS::EDUCACAOCNPQ::CIENCIAS BIOLOGICAS::ECOLOGIASOCIEDADE, URBANIZAÇÃO E ESTUDOS POPULACIONAISDESENVOLVIMENTO SOCIOAMBIENTAL
