The development of Prior Consultation and Free Consent Protocols is one of the main initiatives of Quilombola Communities, in the process of mobilizations and demands. In recent years, the Quilombola Peoples of the Baixo Tocantins region, in the state of Pará, have intensified their demands and struggles for the realization of their rights to Consultation and Consent, Prior, Free, Well Informed and in Good Faith. This research analyzes the process of preparing the consultation protocol for the Quilombo São José de Icatu Community and its possible influences on other quilombos in the region. The general objective is to analyze how the preparation of the consultation protocol for the São José do Icatu quilombo mobilized the community in the fight for rights and has motivated other quilombos in the Baixo Tocantins region, Amazonia Paraense, to such elaborations. And as specific objectives we established: a) describe the process of preparing the consultation protocol for the Quilombola Community of São José do Icatu, as an instrument for the protection and defense of the territory and good living; b) identify, in addition to the leaders, how the quilombola people of São José de Icatu have understood the right to consultation, as a legal framework of current Brazilian legislation; c) analyze how the process of constructing the consultation protocol of Quilombo de São José do Icatu has encouraged other quilombos in the Baixo Tocantins region, Amazonia Pará, to develop their protocols.
