Acesso em: .https://repositorio.ufpa.br/handle/2011/18688Parkinson's disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative disease with motor and non-motor symptoms of high clinical relevance, with depression and apathy being the most prevalent neuropsychiatric disorders. Both have a great impact on quality of life, negatively affect the prognosis and are risk factors for the development of dementia associated with PD. Dance is an attractive activity that activates motor, sensory, cognitive and emotional functions, with a high potential for stimulating neuroplasticity, excellent adherence among the elderly and encouraging results as an adjuvant therapy in PD. The present study sought to investigate the influence of dancing on depressive and apathetic symptoms in PD and the participants' perception of this influence. 18 people with PD were submitted to evaluation protocols for depression and apathy before and after complementary intervention in dance using the Baila Parkinson method (6 months, 2 sessions/week). We used the Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS15), Montgomery and Asberg Depression Rating Scale (MADRS), Apathy Scale (AS) and Complementary Questionnaire to verify the results. We observed a significant difference in AS results (p=0.022) after the intervention, and a percentage reduction in the number of cases above the cutoff point in the GDS-15. Complementary questionnaires revealed a perception of the subjects in line with the results observed in the scales. Dance can be used as a complementary intervention in PD, with effects on the neuropsychiatric symptoms and mental state of the affected person. Complementary studies are needed to investigate the longterm effects as well as the mechanisms of dance as a therapy to alleviate non-motor symptoms in people with PD.Acesso AbertoAttribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 Internationalhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/Doença de ParkinsonParkinson DiseaseDançaDanceDepressãoApathyDepressionApatiaA dança como recurso terapêutico complementar em saúde mental na doença de ParkinsonDance as a Complementary Therapeutic Resource in Mental Health in Parkinson's DiseaseDissertaçãoCNPQ::CIENCIAS HUMANAS::PSICOLOGIACNPQ::CIENCIAS DA SAUDE::MEDICINA::CLINICA MEDICAProcessos Comportamentais ComplexosNEUROCIÊNCIAS E COMPORTAMENTO
