Acesso em:.https://repositorio.ufpa.br/handle/2011/10511With the flowering of newspaper publications, the Brazilian public has shown a great interest in accessing the information through the newspapers, both as a source of information and entertainment, and has been especially delighted with the publications of the newspaper serials, a literary phenomenon coming from Europe, Especially from France. The newspapers published in the Province of Grão-Pará were very prolific during the 19th century and extended to the interior, more specifically in the city of Cametá. Taking this into consideration, the aim of this work was to recover the vestiges of the history of the press in the city of Cametá and, mainly, to investigate the prose of fiction published in its newspapers in century XIX, since that city was considered a center of culture, because in the period of the Cabanagem, although for a short time, it became the capital of the province.
