Based on Bruno Latour's Actor-Network Theory (ANT) and in dialogue with authors such as Leandro Tocantins and Maurice Halbwachs, the research explores how the Capim River acts as a central mediator of the community's social, economic, and cultural interactions. The work is anchored in a qualitative approach and uses methodologies such as oral history, semi-structured interviews, direct observation, and bibliographical research to understand the impact of socio-environmental transformations driven by large economic projects and the historical colonization of the region. By focusing on the collective memory of residents, especially artisanal fishermen and family farmers, the dissertation identifies traditional practices that resist external pressures, revealing strategies of adaptation and cultural reaffirmation. The study highlights the importance of traditional Amazonian populations, highlighting the Amazonian community as a way of life and identity that articulates material, symbolic, and territorial elements. The research concludes that, despite the intense transformations, the Independência community maintains a symbiotic relationship with the Capim River, reaffirming local knowledge and social networks as pillars of resistance and sustainability.
