Maridalva Pantoja and aims to investigate storytelling as a performative and formative act. The research aims to contribute to the improvement of pedagogical and artistic practices in the school environment, from the understanding of the importance of narrative, orality, memory and performance as important concepts to the composition of effective strategies in the act of communicating and transmitting information in the classroom. The choice of this research object has as its starting point my work as an Arts teacher in basic education. The research problem is based on investigating how does storytelling contribute to the stage of early childhood education, acting effectively in the different aspects of development; and how plotting pedagogical strategies of teaching and learning Arts, but specifically the theater, for the cognitive development of students. The research method used in the execution of the research is the ethnographic one and triggers the investigation procedures and techniques defended by the anthropologist Clifford Geertz (2008). The theoretical basis finds support in the understanding of the voice as a performative act of Paul Zumthor (1993), in the triangular approach of Ana Mae Barbosa (2022), in the transdisciplinary approach of Paulo Freire (2013) and in the thought of Piaget (1972) about education; in the approach of Bahktin (1988), about speech gender and in Walter Benjamin (1987) abut narratives. The study revealed that the practice of storytelling contributes to development as it highlights knowledge derived from one's own reality.
