Adversities in eating behavior and body image can influence in the postoperative results. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between eating behavior and body image in people who underwent bariatric surgery in Brazil. A cross-sectional, quantitative study was carried out, with a non-probabilistic sample, got for convenience and data collection with Google Forms® aid. Were collected Socio- demographic data, pre- and postoperative data, the domains of eating behavior with the Three Factor Eating Questionnaire, body image distortion with the Body Shape Questionnaire and body image satisfaction with the Silhouette Scale. About 398 respondents, 93.5% were female and 57.3% had between 40 and 59 years old. The Roux-en-Y gastric bypass accounted 80.2% of total surgeries and 18.9% had weight regain. There was some degree of body image distortion in 38.4% and body image dissatisfaction in 87.5%. Cognitive restraint was the domain of eating behavior most frequent in 75.9%. Associations were found between the cognitive restraint domains (p = 0,000) and emotional eating (p = 0,000) with body image distortion. Associations were found between the cognitive restraint domains (p = 0,000) and emotional eating (p = 0,000) with body image distortion, showing that the presence of body image distortion interfered with the probabilities of presenting dysfunctional eating behavior. Dissatisfaction with body image was more frequent. However, there was not found association between dissatisfaction with body image and domains of eating behavior in this sample. This, the results showed that distortion with body image and body image dissatisfaction can interact in different ways in the domains of eating behavior.
