When it comes to temporal perception, most studies in the area report contextual effects of assimilation, in which the estimate of the current stimulus is positively correlated with stimuli or responses experienced in the same context. Most of these studies use temporal reproduction tasks; therefore, it seems reasonable to test the generality of that phenomenon using other experimental tasks. The present study aimed to investigate the occurrence and describe quantitatively contextual effects in time perception through a spatial mapping task. Participants (n=30) were divided into three groups: Short, Intermediate and Long. Each participant experienced a certain set of stimuli with different durations depending on their experimental group, with certain durations common to all groups. An analysis of mean responses to each stimulus in the different groups reveal an overall contrast effect. Two kinds of multiple linear regression models were used to describe the contextual effect, trial by trial. The first kind of model considered only the stimuli (current and previous); the second one, in addition to the stimuli, also considered the previous responses.
