It is a quantitative descriptive research developed with 488 employees of federal institutions of education. One questionnaire was applied using the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale, the Organizational Citizenship Scale for Knowledge Workers, and the Generic Job Satisfaction Scale. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistical techniques and structural equation modeling. It was found that job satisfaction is positively influenced by OC practices with emphasis on civic virtue and without effects on voice. Tests indicated a positive and significant correlation between job satisfaction and work engagement.
