Acesso em: .https://repositorio.ufpa.br/handle/2011/18701The aim of this work was to examine the action of cytokines involved in the inflammatory process and the pattern of neuronal loss in adult rats with mesial temporal lobe epilepsy (MTLE) induced by using the drug pilocarpine. 11 adult Wistar rats were used, where 6 of them received Pilocarpine treatment and were sacrificed at 1 and 7 days post status epilepticus, respectively, while 5 of them received saline solution treatment. The pilocarpine experimental model was successful in reproducing the harmful effects of MTLE in rats, causing status epilepticus, localized damage in the hippocampus subfields and neuronal death, using the Racine scale (1972) for evaluating the behavior of seizures. The anti-PCP4 antibody allowed precise localization and analysis of the ocular characteristics of the CA2 hippocampal region.
