The urbanization of Ananindeua in the context of the metropolitan region of Belém-Pa was characterized, among other processes, by the loss of vegetation cover due to the increasing anthropization inherent to the expansion of the urban frontier. Parks and other types of public green areas are fundamental structures that should serve the different ecological, social and landscape functions they are intended for in a municipality. The recent occurrence of the Covid 19 pandemic, discussions related to climate change, the Sustainable Development Goals-SDG/UN, and the New Urban Agenda-NAU, highlight the need for green infrastructure that enable life in cities with more quality. In this sense, this work aimed to analyze public policies and local actions related to parks and green areas in the municipality of Ananindeua/Pa. This research is a case study based on a bibliographic review, cartographic production and analysis, secondary data collection and interviews. The analyzes carried out pointed to the non-existence, smallness and unequal distribution of municipal parks and other types of public green areas, as well as the inadequacy of municipal public actions with regard to compliance with legislation such as the Forestry Code, the Master Plans and the Municipal Policy for Urban Afforestation.
