Acesso em:.https://repositorio.ufpa.br/handle/2011/17766The excessive concern about the growing production of industrial waste is closely linked to the potential impacts these materials can have on the environment and human health, given that hazardous waste generated by industry requires special care and attention. This study, conducted at the Federal University of Pará (UFPA), aims to characterize the raw materials used to produce synthetic aggregates. The materials used for this production were clay, glass waste, and kaolin waste, which will undergo morphological, diffractometric, and quantitative characterization. Furthermore, the synthetic aggregates underwent ceramic property tests: water absorption (WA%), apparent porosity (AP%), and apparent specific gravity (ASM), as well as compression testing. The ceramic properties demonstrate that the aggregates produced with kaolin and clay residue increase with increasing weight percentage of kaolin residue, except for the apparent specific gravity and an average compressive strength of the aggregates produced with glass residue of 3.62 MPa for the spherical specimens. Furthermore, using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), the morphology of the synthetic aggregates sintered at 1100°C showed pore formation, in addition to achieving the production of lightweight synthetic aggregates with the use of glass residue at 1.94 g/cm3 and 1.85 g/cm3, with a percentage of 30 and 50% residue, respectively.
