Acesso em:.https://repositorio.ufpa.br/handle/2011/17840This research investigates the interrelationships between Environmental Education and Environmental Science teaching in schools, focusing on the problem of improper solid waste disposal on Algodoal/Maiandeua Island, located in the Amazon region of Pará, Brazil. The research was developed based on observations of local waste management, with an emphasis on the summer season—a time that coincides with school holidays and when the island's visitor flow intensifies—resulting in a significant increase in the production and accumulation of solid waste on beaches and aquatic environments, with direct impacts on local ecosystems. Given this scenario, the research analyzes the main environmental problems associated with waste disposal on the island's beaches, proposing as a pedagogical strategy the development and implementation of a didactic game called "ecological board." The game's development was based on participatory research and the environmental perceptions of students at Maria de Lourdes Ferreira Elementary School, fostering critical and reflective engagement on the topic.
