Thirty children with ADHD and 30 children in the control group, aged 8 to 12 years, 86.67% participated in the research. The Self-perception Profile for children (SPPC) was completed by the children to assess the perception of competence, the Teacher's Rating Scale of the Student's Current Behavior (TRS) was answered by parents for their children's perception of competence and the cognitive profile was assessed by WISC-IV. The results reveled, for both groups, that the high yields on WISC-IV components implied high competency perceptions, as well as the coherence of the child's self-perception report with the father's perception. Low scores in WISC-IV were associated with poor perceptions of competencies, as well as inconsistent reports with parental perceptions. For children with ADHD, behavioral competence was related to cognitive profile with greater significance than for children without the disorder. The findings of this study indicate the need to understand how children build their perceptions and judgments about their abilities and aptitudes, and how cognitive processes permeate this perception.Acesso AbertoAttribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 Internationalhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/TDAHADHDCogniçãoPercepção de competênciasViés ilusório positivo (VIP)CriançaCognitionPerception of competencePositive Illusory Bias (PIB)ChildPerfil cognitivo, percepção de competência de crianças com e sem TDAH e a coerência com o relato da percepção dos paisCognitive profile, perception of competence of children with and without ADHD and consistency with the report of parental perceptionDissertaçãoCNPQ::CIENCIAS HUMANAS::PSICOLOGIAEcologia do Desenvolvimento HumanoECOETOLOGIA
