This study demonstrates that the missionary action of Baptists and their desire to be accepted and expand into newly colonized areas, namely, cities, agricultural villages, and rural towns created along the Transamazon Highway, was benefited in the 1970‟s by the actions of the federal government. Also emphasized is the distinctiveness of the Baptists in relation to other competing religious groups in the Amazon Basin that claimed to support the military dictatorship.porAcesso AbertoHistória socialReligiãoProtestantismoBatistasOcupação do territórioRodovia TransamazônicaAmazônia brasileiraA terra prometida: discursos, práticas e imagens da presença dos batistas brasileiros na Amazônia (1970-1980)DissertaçãoCNPQ::CIENCIAS HUMANAS::HISTORIA
