Given this configuration, this research points to the fishing practice developed in the Quilombola Community of Nossa Senhora do Livramento, in the municipality of Igarapé-Açu-Pará. However, the general objective was to investigate whether the fishing gear and techniques used by the community's residents share the conservation of the source of food subsistence; as specific objectives: to identify which fishing techniques are being used in the community; to record possible impacts on natural resources due to the techniques used in fishing; to highlight possible social and economic impacts to the detriment of the use of techniques in fishing; to identify guidelines from the Municipal Secretariat of the Environment (SEMMA) regarding fishing techniques within the community; to mention the interventions carried out in the community regarding fishing techniques and conservation of natural resources. Methodologically, the research was developed according to the qualitative paradigm, using the case study method with ethnographic characteristics; as data collection techniques, semi-structured interviews and participant observation. The text was divided into six sections, based on the data found in the study and on the theoretical foundations. The analyses were constructed during the investigation through the statements of the 23 interviewees and the observations, which indicated the perception of the residents, especially the fishermen, about the importance of fishing as a source of food.
