Two phases were carried out: 1) cross-cultural adaptation carried out in five stages, namely: translation, synthesis of the translations, back translation, committee analysis and pre-test; and 2) validation, with the participation of 150 caregivers of children with disabilities, and the validity and reliability of the instrument were analyzed. The results of the adaptation indicated good semantic and cultural agreement of the items of the adapted instrument, and a Kappa value of 80%. Regarding validation, a Cronbach's alpha of 0.80 was observed for the reliability of the instrument, and equally good values were found for each subscale of the instrument. Therefore, the instrument was considered adapted and valid for the Brazilian context.Acesso AbertoAttribution-NoDerivatives 4.0 Internationalhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nd/4.0/Adaptação TransculturalCross-cultural AdaptationValidaçãoFamily Hardinnes IndexEstudos de famíliaValidationFamily studiesAdaptação transcultural e validação do instrumento Family Hardiness Index para a população do BrasilCross-cultural adaptation and validation of the Family Hardiness Index instrument for the Brazilian populationDissertaçãoCNPQ::CIENCIAS HUMANAS::PSICOLOGIAEcologia do Desenvolvimento HumanoECOETOLOGIA
