Acesso em:.https://repositorio.ufpa.br/handle/2011/18422Therapeutic process verbal content category systems have been used to identify the variables controlling the therapeutical interaction, and as an auxiliary tool in behavior analytic therapists‟ training. In four studies it was intended to evaluate the adequacy of the therapist‟s verbal performance categories definitions proposed by Canaan (2002) and a training procedure to use them. Studies 1 and 2 it demonstrated that the categories proposed by Canaan should be refined to be used in the investigation of the therapeutic process verbal content categorization. Studies 3 and 4 demonstrated the adequacy of a therapist’s verbal performance refined categories system reaching the criterion of 70 to 80% of agreement between participants‟ categorization of the answer sheet. Regarding the second objective, in Studies 3 and 4 the levels of agreement after experience with the categorization system were equal or inferior to the levels obtained in the previous phase.
