In view of this, this research work is based on the following question: how did the socio-territorial transformations that occurred in the territory of the Tocantins Amazon alter artisanal fishing in riverside communities in the municipality of Abaetetuba, Pará? In this context, the general objective is to analyze the changes in artisanal fishing caused by socio-territorial transformations in riverside communities in the municipality of Abaetetuba, Pará. In methodological terms, this is a qualitative research, combined with the case study research method. , in the riverside communities of Rios Assacú, Sapucajuba and Costa Maratauira, in the municipality of Abaetetuba, Pará, as data collection techniques, a form containing closed and semi-structured questions, participant observation and image recording were used. The data obtained were tabulated and analyzed using the content analysis technique. A total of 25 artisanal fishermen, men and women, aged between 23 and 65 years, participated in the research, of which 14 (fourteen) (56%) live in the Rio Sapucajuba community, 6 (six) (24%) in the community Rio Costa Maratauira and 5 (five) (20%) in the Rio Assacú community. In such communities, fishermen carry out fishing activities known locally as bottom fishing, bubuia fishing, block fishing and matapi fishing, in which, using fishing gear, longline, gill net, block net and matapi, predominantly capture aquatic species: mapará, hake, sea bream, fry and shrimp.
