Acesso em:.https://repositorio.ufpa.br/handle/2011/18018This study explored the relationship between corporate sustainability and financial perfor- mance in the energy sector, focusing on the themes of the Brazilian Corporate Sustainability Index (ISE B3). Using the DEMATEL method, the interrelations among sustainability factors were analyzed based on the perception of a single specialist working in the sector, leading to the identification of critical, highly influential themes. The analysis revealed how prioritizing sustainable practices directly impacts economic outcomes such as EBITDA (Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation, and Amorti- zation), ROE (Return on Equity), net profit margin, and debt ratio. The results demonstrate the applicability of multicriteria methods in guiding strategic decisions grounded in sustainability and highlight the potential alignment between ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) performance and economic value.
