Acesso em:.https://repositorio.ufpa.br/handle/2011/17883The present thesis delves into the complex and dynamic relationships emerging between rural and urban spaces in the municipalities of Santa Izabel do Pará and Santo Antônio do Tauá. The analysis in question is supported by an understanding that sought to delve into the influence of metropolitan dissemination on these territories, where intricate territorial and cultural dynamics play a fundamental role, becoming evident through land use transformations in what are considered rural environments. The epicenter of this research lies in the intrinsic proposition that the metamorphoses in rural and urban interfaces are inciting substantial economic reconfiguration in the realm of land use in these localities. In areas where urban structures are more prevalent, the concept of Peri-urban Areas (PAs) emerges, while in more remote rural spaces, what we refer to as Dynamics of a New Rural (DNRs) flourish. These empirical manifestations contradict the traditional premise that urban sprawl results in the complete absorption of the rural. DNRs denote a specific pattern of land use, concomitant with changes in the traditional productive profile of the local rural, originating in a complex and hybrid intersection between rural and urban. To underpin this approach, this study explores conceptual foundations of the interface between the countryside and the city, known as Peri-urban, and finally, the conceptualization of the new rural, with an important delineation being the Immediate Region of Belém. In summary, this investigation has as its primary purpose to demonstrate that the rural context in this part of the state of Pará is undergoing profound transformations in its traditional structure, giving rise to new configurations in rural-urban relations. In the meantime, municipal public administration emerges as an indispensable element for understanding the concepts of rural and urban, as well as for the formulation of development policies, such as those in the municipal territories under investigation. Therefore, the unavoidable conclusion is that a clear and well-informed recognition of the reorganization and redefinition of the rural becomes a crucial imperative for effective and contextually relevant governance of these territorial dynamics.
