Acesso em:.https://repositorio.ufpa.br/handle/2011/18009This study was performed among oyster farmers from the Association of Farmers and Aquaculturists of Nova Olinda (AGROMAR), discusses the pioneering spirit of fishermen/farmers and fisherwomen/farmers in the cultivation of oysters in estuarine areas of the Amazon, highlighting how the accumulation of knowledge and ancestral practices has been modifying the conventional techniques employed in oyster farming, creating true social technology (TS). Nova Olinda is an agricultural community located in the maretório of the Resex Marinha Araí-Peroba, belonging to the city of Augusto Corrêa/PA, where between August and December/2016 and December 2021 and September and October 2022, a total of 8 members were interviewed. The associativism experienced at AGROMAR is marked by a trajectory of difficulties, overcoming, individual and collective learning and persistence. These experiences have the potential to inspire other groups, and it is hoped that the results presented here can collaborate with reflections on associativism, of participative democracy and the development of processes of collective engagement between artisanal fishermen/fishermen on the Brazilian coast.
