Programa de Pós-Graduação em Geografia.https://repositorio.ufpa.br/handle/2011/4820The water problems involves two main questions: on one side we have the need for water in the process of survival and continuity of humanity, and on the other, the growing of nature as a commoditie, In places with bigger population growth and intensive e diversified use of hydric resources, like the industrial regions of central countries and countries like Brazil, the scarcity of water becomes more evident each day. The irregular distribution of hydric resources increases even more the water problem. Wanting to help in this discussion, we have used the town of Tucuruí, place of deep social and spatial transformations, due to the construction and subsequent increase of the Hydroelectric Power Plant of Tucuruí, on the 70´s and 80´s of the XX century. We try to understand what role the County Administration had in the public structure of management regarding the hydric resources, using as an example the network of water supply and the many uses for water in the city of Tucuruí.
