Programa de Pós-Graduação em Geofísica.https://repositorio.ufpa.br/handle/2011/5788We present a new method to estimate the basement relief of a sedimentary basin through the analytic extension of the expression of the slab Bouguer for the case of a density contrast between the basement and the sediments decreasing monotonically with depth according to a hyperbolic law. The method requires that the noise in data have a standard deviation smaller than 0.01 mGal. The basement relief estimates are obtained at positions located directly below each observation. The methodology was applied on synthetic data from a simulated sedimentary basin presenting smooth basement relief. The method produced estimated basement topographies close to simulated basement topographies. The method was also applied to three sets of real Bouguer anomalies: Recôncavo Basin (Brazil), Büyük Menderes Graben (Turkey) and San Jacinto Graben (United States).
