It analyzes the narratives of three women who use bicycles as a means of transportation and a tool for work; it explores how they claim urban space and the meanings present in these practices. Through direct and participant observation as well as the production and reflection of biographical narratives, the study highlights the diverse uses of bicycles in Belém, despite the predominantly male presence that still characterizes cycling culture. The stories of Nayane, Renata, and Suelen emphasize the bicycle as an instrument of empowerment, resistance, and personal transformation; it enables them to create strategies, negotiate their spaces in the city, and challenge gender inequalities.
