Acesso em:.https://repositorio.ufpa.br/handle/2011/17830Located in the city of Belém do Pará, in the Curió-Utinga neighborhood, the riverside community of Porto da Ceasa still bears remnants of a metropolis once deeply connected to natural resources, including the Guamá River, along whose right bank the community is situated. However, it now faces environmental and socioeconomic challenges, despite its rich historical significance. This dissertation aims to interpret through participatory mapping the community’s perception of the socio-environmental issues shaping their local landscape. Qualitative data from questionnaires and oral interviews were used for this analysis, followed by activities such as mental mapping and collaborative mapping to capture their lived experiences, understandings, and aspirations. Bibliographic research and key findings from the study area revealed that these individuals are experiencing a state of cultural dissonance due to external influences, which often highlight the inequalities embedded in the local landscape.
