The Belo Monte Hydroelectric Plant, built between the municipalities of Altamira and Vitória do Xingu, generated an intense process of transformation, mainly in urban dynamics that (re)configured relations of the residents of Lagoa from Independente I. The city recorded the modification and expansion of its neighborhoods, as well as the creation of new ones, whether planned by the developer or actions by private agents. In this context, there are families from the area known as Lagoa, located in the Jardim Independente I neighborhood, families that, together with the Movimento de Atingido por Barragens (MAB) sought to compensate for the problems experienced with the lack of basic sanitation, thus, it becomes relevant to understand the actions and strategies that families carried out to ensure that their rights were met as affected by the hydroelectric plant. As a form of investigation and explanation of the studied reality, the research is based on the historical and dialectical materialist method, as well as the methodological path.
