With a historical approach, it presents the normative frameworks of protection to the environment and its achievements, as well as a reflection on the current situation of the discussions on the environment in the present time. It makes a historical cut from the beginning of the 17th century to the 21st century, addressing ECO-92 and Rio 92, as well as Laws 9433/1997 and 9605/1998, premises for the identification of advances and normative achievements for the protection of the environment in Brazil.
