Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) A minha vida seria muito diferente se não fosse a matemática: o sentido e os significados do ensino de matemática em processos de exclusão e de inclusão escolar e social na educação de jovens e adultos(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2006-04-18) RODRIGUES, Ana Maria Sgrott; ARAGÃO, Rosália Maria Ribeiro de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5651914385447486The present inquiry deals with a case study which is concerned to the students of a public school as part of a special program of Young and Adult Education. Such students were registered in 3rd. and 4th. stages of that program, whose curricular format corresponds to the four last series of Junior Basic Education. These stages concentrate matter, space and time in order to develop four school years in two. The school is located in a geographic area occupied by slums whose community lives in a real condition of social exclusion. That region sits close to two public important universities. Young students as well as adults in that context were studying in that school just because they lived a school trajectory marked by social obstacles and other impediments to study and work at the same time, so that they could not improve their schooling grades without interruptions that had hindered them to conclude their Basic Education. For these reasons I aimed to investigate what kind of elements in Mathematics Education can contribute successfully for the desirable inclusion of these students in schooling regular activities, as well as elements that create effective exclusion of school as a phenomenon that inversely acts in order to give feedback to the inevitable process of social exclusion of those students. So, I assumed the construction of this inquiry in a narrative way related to the particular context of that school, while involving and interacting with the subjects of this research, which are students, teachers and other employees of the school. I considered their life stories and the way they consider the pedagogical events in their school living, especially those related to Mathematics Education. Therefore, I aimed as objectives of this research to produce other directions, other relations and nexuses that could answer 'how ' and ' why ' the considered criteria of analysis contribute to bring out the process of schooling either inclusion or exclusion. These analyses make possible to evidence the terms of imminent exclusion, detached either by the school indifference or by the teachers misformation to teach those students. Besides that I noticed the disrespect for the life-history of the students that distorted a clear pedagogical vision when it is supposed "adequate curricula summary" and "equality of chances" in the comparison of the former excluded students with the legally said as students in regular education".Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Abordagem da bioética em âmbito escolar: proposições constantes de livros didáticos de biologia(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2011-06-20) CONCEIÇÃO, Luiz Carlos Silva; ARAGÃO, Rosália Maria Ribeiro de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5651914385447486This research aimed to clarify whether and how bioethics is treated in textbooks of biology high school, as well as analyzing how to approach the theme in these books helps students to meet him, becoming able to understand and think critically about the subject and issues in the contemporary context. To do this, investigated books offered by the National Textbook for Secondary Schools (PNLEM) in the light of some assumptions of content analysis methodology. Beacon this search on two guiding questions, namely: (i) What is written on bioethics in biology textbooks? (ii) With what frequency and intensity of this theme is presented in these textbooks? In this perspective, for the first question, the propositions of the books that underlie the issue could be framed in two broad categories: holistic medical bioethics and bioethics. These categories of greater amplitude could be divided into subcategories on different topics and issues (cloning, stem cells, etc.) That are part of the theoretical field of bioethics, for which I sought to make some inferences about the manifest content and explicit selected books that express some kind of reflection on the ethics of the issues addressed, analyzing them in light of theoretical frameworks of bioethics. The analysis of the second question in sub-dispensed split because, in general, bioethics is scarce and too superficial in the way it has been presented in textbooks, failing to elicit reflection by the reader. The approach to bioethical issues in basic education is essential, since the impacts caused by techno-scientific development are becoming more pronounced in society and the environment. Thus, it is essential that the biology textbooks undergo an intense reformulation in order to be pedagogically to monitor changes complemented by acclaimed new guidelines and bases for the Brazilian educational system that, at least in theory, recommend actions for Education, especially school education, aimed at an efficient and effective ethical and citizen.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Escolas diferenciadas praticam um ensino de ciências diferenciado para melhor!?: o que dizem os estudantes sobre o ensino de ciências de uma escola de aplicação(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2008-06-13) VIEIRA, Eulália Soares; ARAGÃO, Rosália Maria Ribeiro de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5651914385447486This study is on teaching practices concerned with the teaching of science in a ‘School of Application’ taken as a school positively differentiated in terms of the quality of their practices of teaching, the working conditions of their teachers and the supposed interest of school in permanent upgrade teaching practices in order to ensure significant learning to students and prepare them to exercise citizenship. My goal was to identify qualitative parameters of differentiation in the area of science education, considering just that the testing of new education practices was one of the educational aspects that led the creation of ‘schools of application’ in Brazil. This research was developed into a modality of qualitative search in a narrative way through which is aimed to highlight from the report of students about their experiences in teaching science, some aspects of the models of education practices, especially in terms of: a) selection of content , b) theoretical and methodological approaches of education, c) teacher student interaction and student-student interaction in class and beyond, and d) practices, procedures and criteria for evaluation of teaching and learning. I intended to investigate how students perceive and clarify values concerned to the practice of teaching science, especially configured as "succeed science classes." Based upon the reports as a focus of the students from 5th to 8th grades of junior high school searched on the practice of teaching science that they experience, I assume the premise they have ideas, conceptions and perceptions about the process of teaching and learning. The analysis I proceed point to a reproductive or mechanical practice of teaching and little different from traditional customary practices of common schools. With regard to the nature of these thematic lessons and classes, little value is done to the previous knowledge of students, and the science teaching is mainly a kind of classroom work merely passive, an act of observing the teaching work in which students reproduce or repeat when asked for. Almost all aspects of content or knowledge information of themes and subjects of science appeared closed in a formal programme without any relation to reality, very distant to the world in which students live. In conclusion, I believe that the possibilities and limits of that obsolete and outdated teaching of Science evidenced by the students call into question the current teaching of this area and pose challenges for implementation by this school and for their teachers, especially in light of the conditions inside the ‘school of application’. It is essential that such teaching practices can be reviewed by the school and their teachers in order they reflect collectively on whether searching the content that can be significant for students, their relationship with the world today, as well as methods of treatment of the contents of Sciences the prospect of building effective meaningful learning for students, preparing them for citizenship in fact.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Falas que vêm das salas e falas que vêem as salas: o que dizem os professores de ciências e matemática sobre a psicologia da educação na formação docente(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2006-08-18) DIAS, Luiz Carlos de Carvalho; ARAGÃO, Rosália Maria Ribeiro de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5651914385447486In this research we apply a narrative approach qualitatively inspired as a compass to analyses and interpretations conducted by us. We place ourselves projecting the importance of research shape in autobiographical terms concerning teachers of Science and Mathematics in a continued education course at a post graduation level. We study along the subjects some aspects in Psychology of Education, in the beginning of teachers training, considered important for these teachers by teachers emotional attribution of value, sense and meaning in order to care about their present teaching practice. We stress the impressions of eight teachers in a Latu Sensu course Specialization in Mathematical Education, obtained through semi-structured collective interview taken from the first group and questionnaires applied to the second group, some theoretical-methodological content, focused on narrative terms, related to personal teaching practice and based on the idea of preparing brainy teachers that consider Psychology, especially, as a proposal for a development leading to a brainy practice. The analyses produced by us reveal auto-reflected and reflexive terms built on methodological-theoretical contents oriented to teaching practice being satisfactory and conceptual-theoretical contents not oriented to teaching practice labeled as insufficient by teachers interviewed, explained by their questioning on their interaction to teenager students and related to this group being numerous and emergent in medium and fundamental teaching level in common classrooms, as well in young and adults education. A kind of education by self-knowledge meant to heterodox knowledge, theorization of their teaching practice and study of reflexive teaching practices or specific psychological theories that make them care about their practice as propositions and principles of schooling. In research terms, to follow initial educational background by life experiences means to find the shape and attitude for schooling, sensitivity and sharp thought, in a significant come-to-be when teachers direct their life experiences in reflexive learning to teaching practice, not only attempting to reshape an self-image, but looking for a perception of the self and the other in schooling.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Formar para diferenciar professores do século XXI: explicitando o (im)previsível em Licenciaturas em Ciências Biológicas(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2013-08-16) PINHEIRO, Sheila Costa Vilhena; ARAGÃO, Rosália Maria Ribeiro de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5651914385447486The present study aimed a qualitative narrative research approach in order to understand teachers and student teachers‟ ideas and perceptions on theoretical methodological and epistemological aspects which are considered as indicators both scientific and pedagogical for XXI century differentiation on the territory of a dual Degree in Biological Sciences. The locus of the research was a federal public university in the State of Para where such duality is formed by two interfaces located in the training methods of „facing‟ and „distance teaching‟ which have education science teachers as an axis of intersection. The „facing teaching‟ is centered at classroom in Belem city, and the interface 'distance teaching' is offered in decentralized municipalities poles called Maraba, Capanema, Oriximina and Parauapebas. Faced with the challenge of understanding the complexity of those diverse teaching contexts and their visual boundaries at present, I maintain as parameters to differentiate both scientific and pedagogical training of science teachers in the XXI century some issues as diversity, flexibility and innovation, theory and methodological ideas, as well as propositions and teaching practices in transformation. There were some differentiation criteria for selection of research subjects, therefore, I could select 10 students (5 and 5 concerned „facing‟ and „distance teaching‟) coming from the high level of activity during reflexive manifestations of a discipline of teaching in, in which the researcher was also forming, and by his turn 07 formers (3 working in „facing‟, 3 in the „distance teaching‟ and one working in both) were selected based upon a network system by already educated teachers and also by indications of their own pairs since the differentiation criteria of their performance as a teacher-trainer. The design of the research was configured by an isomorphic treatment object, objectives and subjects, however, the uniqueness of each of the interfaces of facing context and distance prevented the isomorphism in terms of the production of empirical material that required procedural methodological differentiation for each interface. Thus, the empirical production on all teacher trainers held by semi-structured interview lasting on average 50 minutes moreover only trainers interface distance registered by filming six planning meetings and continuing education to focus groups. In relation to the students, the empirical production was made by filming their practices and interactions in a classroom teaching activities, moreover semi-structured interviews lasting on average 50 minutes. The organization is built on empirical search for recurring to issues in the speech of the subjects that shaped flow analytical emphases expressing indicators of differentiation, namely: a) Personal and Professional Values, b) Emerging Conceptions about Teaching and Learning Sciences and, c) Practical Training. Narrative analysis of these flows enabled the ideational explanation of principles of differentiation in teaching science education shared among individuals, which can be expressed in key ideas and openness to change, teacher identity in context, emotional intelligence, love for the students and for their own practice, dialogue with the people and with the world, ethical-political commitment and act between risks and uncertainties. Towards these principles, it is necessary to construct changes in the traditional conceptions of teaching and learning questioning the teaching in different educational levels, surpassing the teaching models that trainers and teachers learned when they were students, building positive quality in teaching science/biology knowledge in association with the improvement of teacher training based on a culture of collaborative development of training practices regarding the positive quality of the teacher training and education science/ biology view to the challenges of the XXI century.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) A matemática no contexto da educação ambiental: relações de aprendizagem(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2009-05-15) NEVES, Sandra do Socorro de Miranda; ARAGÃO, Rosália Maria Ribeiro de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5651914385447486This study presents an analysis of mathematics collection to the fundamental learning “Everything is mathematics” of Luís Roberto Dante. Before defining the collection to be analyzed I examined the twenty and three made use collections in the Guide of Didactic Books – Fundamental Learning/MEC. After that I defined as basic criteria of choice the “frequency of use of the collection by publics schools in Pará State”. In this study were chosen fifteen questions in the block treatment of the information in the statistics content – charts and tables – which deals with the environmental questions according to the National Curricular Parameters and the Transversal Themes intentions. The guiding question of this work aims to analysis the collection of mathematics didactic books of fundamental learning most requested in Pará State to investigate whether the selected author by schools by defined criteria articulates conveniently the Mathematics content learning to the environment using representations registers the light of Raymond Duval. I made analysis both quantitative and qualitative in selected books whose purpose is find the questions which the environment is used and enables the learning of the Mathematics. The analysis was done to the charts representations can be more explored to allow the teachers and students an important pedagogical support in the learning of the citizen education in context of environmental education. The number of questions using the environmental thematic in the collection in prominence to the basic education is far from the desirable one for our region. The large scale use of these semiotics representations will possibly reach an acceptable level of students and I believe that the Mathematics social role could rise to higher levels supported by Durval theory due to these representations importance meeting recovery of a world permeated by information. I assume there is a lot work to be done in pursuit of development of this practice both statistically and in terms of attitudinal changes in relation to the environmental and to support the textbook.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Resolução de problemas nos anos iniciais de escolaridade: por que é tão difícil?(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2006-04-20) ALVES, Gleiciane de Sousa; ARAGÃO, Rosália Maria Ribeiro de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5651914385447486In the present text I describe my usual teaching practice in classroom involving children of 3rd and 4th series of the basic education at a private school. Besides that I analyze the performance of these children as my pupils in the process of solving problems of Mathematics. To begin with I describe my mathematical professional experience in teaching taking as reference the resultant questions and fidgets of this practical. In order to understand types of problems and processes of problem solving I take in account Polya, Pozo, Saviani and Dante theoretical propositions just to understand the present Mathematics approach in basic education and its relation with the social reality. I search as well references in Kamii, Axe and D'ambrósio. For analysis of the processes of teaching and learning developed during the interaction betueen the children and me I mainly support my teaching actions in Vergnaud and Bachelard and, at most in Freire. In the analysis I considered real problems situations. So, I realized what caused obstacles to the learning, mainly the linguistic form from which the problems are presented. On the other hand, I could see what caused difficulties for the children form or identify Math concepts and notions in the situations, as well as caused difficulties of identification and handling implicit or explicit data by the children. The developped analysis made possible to me some pedagogical reflections on my teaching practice as well as on the practice of other Math teachers.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Temas capitais da educação a distância: nós e entrenós que tecem a rede da formação de professores(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2006-04-19) PINHEIRO, Sheila Costa Vilhena; ARAGÃO, Rosália Maria Ribeiro de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5651914385447486This study is based upon an inquiry concerned the lived formative experiences during interactions in classes of a matter treating of the ‘education at the distance’ foundations. These lessons were achieved in a pilot specialization course for the formation of some tutors class in science education and mathematics. These matter and classes were developed by three teachers, among which I was included as an action-researcher, in four groups of graduate students that use to teach science education and mathematics in basic education and in the pre-school education. This is a research of qualitative nature, in a narrative way, that aims to know and to make clear the usual knowledge named “knowings’ produced in the tutorial formation process in distance in order to give reference to the pedagogical construction of different practices differentiated in a teaching education process. The mobilization of these ‘knowings’ aimed in the construction of such practices came to light through diaries, memorials and other reaction papers written by the student-teachers, as well as the researcher personal notes captured ‘in the field’ during two lesson cycles of five days, in turns in the morning and afternoon. The collected data were analysed upon emergent criteria created to define the focused ideas and themes which are expressed in terms of 'change', 'tutorial autonomy', 'evaluation', 'affectivity' and 'prejudices', as much in function of the consideration of importance that the subjects give to the ‘at the distance’ Education different questions, considering their relevance in the educational context at present. The analysis of these data reveals that from the reflection on simulated practices, in the absence of real situations confrontation, there could come authentic problems of learning and formation processes developed at distance. These problems can mobilize the production of ‘knowings’ related to ‘at distance proper procedures’ to the formative proposal of relevant practices brought up to date and innovate ‘at distance Education’ ways of teaching. Such usual knowledge is concerned to the understanding of this educative modality on the basis of an emergent paradigm. In this direction, the preconceptions and prejudices in relation to ‘At Distance Education’ can be surpassed in function of the guarantee of the development of other and new formative possibilities, through this real modality, that imply theoretical, methodological and epistemological conceptions differentiated in formation terms and in evaluation and tutorial action.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Utopias pedagógicas no ensino de ciências: idéias docentes que expressam o futuro para reencantar o presente(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2007-05-14) PINHEIRO, Jackson Costa; ARAGÃO, Rosália Maria Ribeiro de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5651914385447486This study is concerned to a qualitative research in a narrative way that aims to investigate what theoretical methodological and epistemological terms reverberate from pedagogical propositions used to express considered utopical ideas of Education and of Science Education. This way some teachers ideas were collected under the form of verbal stories that had been heard by means of interviews recorded in audio, carried through individually with each one of the seven student-teachers participants of a course of Teachers Education in Science in a graduate level in which the researcher was included. The subject of the research had been selected according to the ideational nature of their speech in current lessons taking in account their written texts and their oral ideas. According to these criteria it could be chosen (a) three subjects with ideas of utopical accent; (b) three other subject with ideas that show approaches to the skepticism and (c) a subject that showed ideas approaching to the nihilism. The collected data had been treated under the narrative episodes form that had been organized under three utopical principles of knowledge related to ‘education and life’ that constitute sections of analyses. The treatment of the narrative episodes in terms of utopical principles represents a way to organize the questions of bigger prominence for the subjects. Thus these principles when related one another keep some intercommunion that constitute a permanent and multidimensional process of making meaningful the ideas that becomes excellent to be kept or projected in Science Teaching. The data analyses disclose the perspective of constructing a comprehensive knowledge in Science Teaching in order to develop a certain critical and reflexive citizenship. Therefore, the gotten utopies can be articulated in different ways of being and making Science and Education based upon some basic emergent parameters for the comprehension of the reality, as well as constructing pedagogical utopies that can re-enchant the present actions to provide a promising future.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Violência escolar: o ponto de vista de professores de matemática(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2011-05-12) SANTOS, Patrícia Feitosa; ARAGÃO, Rosália Maria Ribeiro de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5651914385447486This is a qualitative research, in narrative modality, for whose development I use the next questions with the purpose to guide the investigation: 1) Which aspects of teacher formation and social development of mathematics teachers in their ways of seeing, contribute/contributed to their perceptions about school violence, 2) How have been/were their professional careers and wich the relevance of Mathematics, embraced by them as teachers, in constituition its vision of violence in the classroom. For this, I contacted math teachers who work in public state schools, at the moment they attended a continuing education course. Used for the interaction with the subjects, a technique of focus group interview, episodic type, duly filmed and transcribed. The reports of teacher-research subjects four categories of analysis emerged, namely: (A) Experiences of violence they experienced in their childhood; (B) Type of school violence allegedly committed by each of the teachers in passibles terms (or not) a perception of themselves; (C) Reactions of teachers to violence situations that they experienced in working in school; (D) Reflections that each one usually does after experiencing or have knowledge of particular situations of violence occurring in their math classes or somebody else classes. The analyses made by me in accordance with the theoretical referencial allow us to corroborate the academic background of teachers, directed only for the administration of the mathematical content does not equip them to cope with complex questions experienced in the everyday life of schools, such as school violence, that habitus of mathematics teachers contributes to a rigid posture in front the subject he teaches, and consequently in relation to his students; that there is need to work with a more open curriculum, adapted to the reality of schools and students, otherwise the learning mathematics will remain a major contribution to the symbolic violence, independent of insinuate ou not recognition of some teachers as propagators of violence. This frame confirms some of the terms by which is constituted by the sight of violence of mathematics teachers in their math classes.
