Dissertação Acesso aberto (Open Access) A atividade pesqueira nas ilhas do entorno de Belém(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2010) SCHALLENBERGER, Bárbara Heck; FRÉDOU, Flávia Lucena; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4779271407117528The Amazonian estuary is a region with favorable conditions for productivity, and fishery is an important activity. The islands of Combu, Onças and Mosqueiro, focus of this study, are part of the Amazonian estuary and fishing is an important activity. Based on this information, the objective of this study was to describe and to compare the different types of fishing at Combu, Onças and Mosqueiro islands, identifying sustainability indicators, considering the economic, social, ecological and technological aspects, which results may help to assist to generate subsidies for the formulation of public policies to the fisheries sector. Descriptive and numeric variables considering the different dimensions were used in order to describe the systems of fish production to make comparisons including both the systems and also the islands studied. For comparative statistical analysis only the numerical variables (means and percentages) were used from data collected by researches and from secondary data. Multivariate analysis; Cluster analysis and ordination (MDS) comparing the systems were applied to identify groups and the possible causes of the similarity between the systems for each island. On Combu´s Island it was identified the following fishery systems: matapi, gill net for consumption, block net , longline hook medium and longline hook large. On Onças´s Island it was observed the fishery systems matapi, gill net for consumption, gill net for commercial purpose, block net , longline hook medium and longline hook large. On Mosqueiro´s Island it was identified the fishery systems matapi, gill net commercial, longline hook medium and longline hook large. The analysis of systems in all dimensions showed that the island of Mosqueiro differs to the other islands. When analyzed separately by dimension Matapi system, block net and gill net consumption of the islandes Combu and Onças were very similar. However, systems observed in Mosqueiro´s Island differ from the other islands mainly considering the economic dimension. Based on the results, it can be said that fishing in the islands of Onças and Combu is for subsistence and the main activity is the vegetable extraction while fishing in Mosqueiro´s Island is commercial. Although fishing in the islands of Combu and Onças is only for subsistence, it´s also an important source of food and extra money for the residents. In Mosqueiro´s Island fishing has high economic importance, but the fishing areas are also exploited by fishermen from other parts of the state without any management initiatives by the government.Tese Acesso aberto (Open Access) O caranguejo-uçá Ucides cordatus (Crustacea, Brachyura, Ucididae), no litoral paraense: uma abordagem sobre a atividade extrativa no Pará(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2014-03-31) SILVA, Mauro Marcio Tavares da; PINHEIRO, Marcelo Antonio Amaro; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6829111589524333; QUEIROZ, Helder Lima de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3131281054700225This paper initially provides information about the extraction potential of productive mangroves in the municipalities of Quatipuru and Bragança, as well as the socioeconomic characterization of the extractive professionals (crabbers) of this resource. Parallel to the information generated in the mangroves and communities interviewed in Quatipuru and Bragança, this study also seeks to contextualize the extractive activity of the mangrove crab-uçá around the Pará coast, through information obtained by the collection and analysis of data in different mangrove municipalities of Pará’s coast, characterizing the productive activity of this important resource extraction communities. The information collection occurred in the period between 2010-2012, where the extractive potential was examined, in the mangroves of Bragança and Quatipuru confirming these locations as potentially producing regions, with a density of 5.01 ± 1.09 ind/m2 in the Quatipuru magrove and 6.5 ± 1.0 ind/m2 in the Bragança mangrove with an immediate extraction potential (IEP) of 80.91 % in Quatipuru and 86.23 % in Bragança. Concerning extractive activity in the major communities in the municipalities of Quatipuru and Bragança, the profile of crabbers was characterized by male dominated, low education, with at least 16 years of activity for most in Quatipuru and more than 20 years for most of the interviewed in the communities of Bragança. The primary capture technique used is the "braceamento" with the aid of hook in both locations, where they capture on average 51-100 units / day in Quatipuru and 101-150 in Braganca, where the middleman is the main destination of the product for the sites investigated. The data obtained from the Pará coastal reveal that out of all the mangroves studied, the municipality of Viseu was highlighted as an important forest region of Pará, with a density of 4.23 ± 1.40 ind/m2, CPUE 46.6 (crabs / man / hour) and 226.8 ± 113.1 units captured by crabber/day, however , it is important to notice that this municipality had the lowest average price per crab (R$0.18 ± 0,05) among all communities of the municipalities visited. The importance of this resource for the communities in the coastal Pará is clear and requires regulatory actions that support exploration with sustainability, as well as encouraging these professionals of artisanal fisheries through actions of to recover their citizenship.Artigo de Periódico Acesso aberto (Open Access) Gnathostomatidae nematode parasite of Colomesus psittacus (Osteichthyes, Tetraodontiformes) in the Ilha de Marajó, Brazilian Amazon(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2017-09) PINHEIRO, Raul Henrique da Silva; SANTANA, Ricardo Luis Sousa; MELO, Francisco Tiago de Vasconcelos; SANTOS, Jeannie Nascimento dos; GEISE, Elane GuerreiroThe genus Gnathostoma comprises 17 species, whose adult specimens are found in the stomach serosa of animals that consume raw fish; some species of the genus are zoonotic agents. The present study describes the presence of a nematode (Gnathostomatidae) parasitizing the digestive tract of Colomesus psittacus in the Ilha de Marajó in the eastern Brazilian Amazon. Thirty specimens of C. psittacus were collected in the municipality of Soure, Ilha de Marajó, state of Pará, Brazil, transported to the laboratory, necropsied and the helminths were collected and fixed. Of the 30 fish that were studied, 16.67% were parasitized with nematodes. The nematode larvae found encysted in the intestinal serosa have anterior region with two lips, each with a pair of papillae; a cephalic bulb armed with six rows of discontinuous spines; four cervical sacs; a claviform esophagus; cuticular striations along the body; a simple excretory pore; and a short tail ending in a mucron. These morphological structures are diagnostic characters of the genus Gnathostoma, whose adults parasitize the stomach of carnivorous mammals and, rarely, the stomach of fish. However, fish, amphibians, reptiles, and birds are intermediate hosts of the third-stage larvae (L3), and humans may act as accidental hosts.Artigo de Periódico Acesso aberto (Open Access) Ictiofauna de igarapés de pequenas bacias de drenagem em área agrícola do Nordeste Paraense, Amazônia Oriental(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2012-06) CORRÊA, Jean Michel; GERHARD, Pedro; FIGUEIREDO, Ricardo de OliveiraStream fish communities can show spatial and temporal patterns, which can be revealed by species association or species groups as well as by species preference to certain habitats. The reduced number of studies and the scarce knowledge on the aquatic fauna in the Amazon results on an under-estimative upon stream fish fauna diversity. In this study, a survey at three small Amazonian catchments located in family agriculture areas, a total of 2,117 individuals were collected, belonging to seven orders, 13 families, 27 genera and 43 species. The most abundant species in all samples was Hyphessobrycon heterorhabdus, totaling 337 individuals, followed by Bryconops melanurus, with 326 individuals. The species richness was highest in a Pachibá stream reach, with 21 species. Simpson’s diversity index in a Cumaru stream reach showed the highest species dominance with a value of 0.43, while Shannon’s diversity index showed that the Pachibá stream lowest reach, had the greatest diversity with a value of 2.39. Iguanodectes rachovii was the most constant species, occurring in 50% of samples. Therefore, as a response to habitat size, the intermediate stream reaches presented the highest species diversity. Our study showed that agricultural catchments dominated by smallholder farmers can bear a reasonable stream fish diversity.Tese Acesso aberto (Open Access) A importância da inovação e seus desdobramentos sobre a pesca industrial dos estados do Pará e Santa Catarina (Brasil)(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2013-06-28) SANTOS, José Nazareno Araújo dos; BASTOS, Ana Paula Vidal; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1992388595130579Innovation is crucial to reach the socioeconomic development pursue by each country. Those that do not innovate or link innovation to their development agenda are left behind to the “centre”. This is so true, that developed countries are all more industrialized and innovative than those not developed. In Brazil this is also the case, despite being the sixth largest economy in the World, she is not a developed country, mainly because it occupies an intermediate position regarding manufacturing and innovation. This reflects throughout all activities including fisheries. Despite having a high productive potential extractive fishing when compared to other countries presents low production capacity, mainly due to the (un)willingness to adopt/develop innovative techniques that may enable a better performance. Another aspect that should be highlighted is its weak institutional capacity to promote sectorial development. In order to find alternatives to the current institutional structure of fisheries, Brazilian government, following institutional structures adopted by major fishing production countries, in 2003, adopted a new governance pattern for the sector. However, it did not change former structures. Therefore, remains relevant to identify those factors that make this important socioeconomic activity, hostage of market nuances and local circumstances that lead to inequality of the production assets of agents. In order to deeply understand it, this research in Brazilian states of Para (in the North/Amazon region) and Santa Catarina (in the South). Besides being the largest fishing producing states, are largely vulnerable to market behaviour and, at the same time present very unequal institutional frameworks and positions towards innovation. In order to compare the two states having in mind the role of innovation in the production process, an Innovative Performance Index was created based on multivariate analysis. Thus, primary data collected in the two states was submitted to a factor analysis. Results show that Santa Catarina's companies showed better results confirming the guiding hypothesis that innovation is the key to good performance at least in the fishing activity. Not forgetting that other context factors matter, including those institutional agents that closely follow domestic and international market dynamics. Another result that need to be highlighted refers to strategic skills of the entrepreneurs, that may perform better because can better cope with market complexity. Santa Catarina's entrepreneurs showed greater commitment to innovation reflected in the behaviour of their companies. These empirical results allow saying that a better integration of the institutions that coordinate agents involved in the fishing activity can create an environment that may promote a sound development of the activity and that this may apply to other sectors. This research deepened the discussion of the intricacies of innovation and its implications on development policy, allowing for strategic hints for those involved in regional and sectorial policy making.Artigo de Periódico Acesso aberto (Open Access) Influence of photoperiod on growth, uniformity, and survival of larvae of the Amazonian ornamental Heros severus (Heckel, 1840)(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2016-07) VERAS, Galileu Crovatto; PAIXÃO, Daércio José de Macedo Ribeiro; BRABO, Marcos Ferreira; SOARES, Lourdes Marília Oliveira; SALES, Abner DiasThe objective of this work was to evaluate the influence of photoperiod on growth, uniformity, and survival of larvae of the Amazonian ornamental fish severum (Heros severus). A completely randomized study was used with five treatments (0L:24D, 6L:18D, 12L:12D, 18L:6D, 24L:0D) and four replicates, with the aquaria as the experimental unit. Two hundred severum larvae (3.20±0.16 mg and 5.60±0.00 mm) were distributed into 20 aquariums of one litre at a density of 10 larvae per litre. For a period of 15 days, feed was supplied four times daily with Artemia nauplii in a proportion of 160 nauplii/larvae/feeding. At the end of the experimental period, growth, uniformity, and survival data were subjected to analyses of variance and significance. Manipulation of the photoperiod showed no change in variables because there was no difference in the growth, uniformity, or survival of severum larvae. Thus, for larvae of this species of up to 20 days of age, the manipulation of the photoperiod is not advantageous due to the possible increase in production costs. Therefore, it is recommended to use the photoperiod close to the natural environment.Dissertação Acesso aberto (Open Access) Participação e conhecimentos femininos na inserção de novas espécies de pescado no mercado e na dieta alimentar dos pescadores da RESEX Mãe Grande em Curuçá/PA(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2013-04-30) PALHETA, Marllen Karine da Silva; RAVENA CAÑETE, Voyner; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9961199993740323This paper aims to describe the main as the traditional knowledge of women shellfish and fisher of river and sea, the locality of Caratateua, RESEX Marine Mom Large Curuçá – PA, contributes to market integration and commercialization of new species of fish. Therefore, the paper uses a methodology qualitative and quantitative, disposing of data that point to a scarcity of the species is much appreciated in the local market, as well as presents the knowledge traditional female on key species that comprise the diet of fishermen as a way to bring new species in the local market. The paper describes, more, species that have been entered into the system from the feminine knowledge. Data collection occurred in the period from March to August 2012. The methodological techniques were semi-structured interviews and participant observation. To characterize the community socioeconomically were applied 76 questionnaires with residents. The semi-structured interviews were conducted with fishers / seafood community, being applied 10 questionnaires and market in the city of Curuçá were applied 9 questionnaires sent to sellers of fish. The interviews showed the changes over the years, evidencing the shortage of traditional species, both the table fisherman as the consumer market. Stresses, especially, as the woman has a fundamental role in inclusion of new species in both sectors, because there is a greater perception about the natural resources consumption.Dissertação Acesso aberto (Open Access) Perfil da piscicultura na mesorregião sudoeste Paraense(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2011) OLIVEIRA, Adna Suany Cardoso de; FUJIMOTO, Rodrigo Yudi; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9538142371454660This research aimed at characterizing the recent development of fish farming in southwestern Pará state in the Brazilian Amazon and how this economic activity is organized. Site visits were made to fish farms in the municipalities of Altamira, Brasil Novo, Medicilândia, Uruará, Vitória do Xingu, Itaituba, Aveiro, Jacareacanga, Novo Progresso, Rurópolis e Trairão. Data were obtained through the application of questionnaires with questions pertaining to characteristics of the production system and marketing. The sample included 143 fish farms, of which 65.9% practiced a semi-intensive system and 31.7% an extensive system. The employed labor force is drawn mostly from the immediate family. Fish farming is a complementary activity in 81% of the farms visited. The management of fish farms consists of several basic operations, such as rearing in ponds with locally produced feed (82%) and commercial fish ration (47.7%). The most commonly cultivated species are round fish (13%) as the preferred first cultivated species and tilapia (18%) as second choice. The average yearly yield was 8209 kg/ha for round fish and 3727 kg / ha for tilapia. The average yield of all species reached 14,339 tons/ha. The principle difficulties encountered by regional fish farmers are: lack of technical assistance, obtaining fingerlings, high feed prices, and lack of production incentives.Dissertação Acesso aberto (Open Access) A pesca artesanal e suas contribuições para o desenvolvimento local: uma análise comparativa dos distritos de Icoaraci - Belém (PA) - Brasil e Vilankulo - Inhambane - Moçambique(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2016-07-18) MASSAMBA, Sandra Fazenete Picardo; VASCONCELLOS SOBRINHO, Mário; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7843288526039148; MORAES, Sérgio Cardoso de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4568311568729454This research aims to analyze the artisanal fisheries and its contribution to the local development, taking into account (as case studies places) the spatial area of district of Icoaraci-Belém (PA) - Brazil and Vilankulo, Inhambane Province in Mozambique. Artisanal fishing is an important activity because it supplies to the local. These activities are used as the source of their income (financially and economically viable) and as a supplier of food for their sustainability as well as for their families’ welfare. Data collection was based on semi-structured interviews submitted to the fisherfolk; the settle fishing Z-10 of Icoaraci, the association of Vilankulo fishermen; shops which sell fish and also the local authorities connected to this activity in the district mentioned above. Were applied questionnaires with open and closed questions to the people and institutions engaged in those activities in order to get an overview of the case which were part of debate in couples of years. However, to fulfill this desire it was required some materials such as notebook, pen, pencil and eraser. The observation technique was used so that it could be easy to check the reliability of the information given. To analyze the results we used the comparative method with qualitative and quantitative approach to identify the differences and similarities regarding the livelihood and socioeconomic profile of the fisherfolk, their social organization or framework and the interpretation on activity and local development in the districts of our study. For discussion, we used research made previously by other investigators in order to make the comparison of the results. The results show that most of the artisanal fishermen have the first grade of schooling or an incomplete education background, a monthly income of less than the minimum salary, and they are organized into colonies in the district of Icoaraci while in district of Vilankulo, they are organized as an NGO (Association of fishermen). Artisanal fishermen are engaged in other activities to generate more income for their survival. Fortunately, there are intermediate people in this activity which brings gains for them in term of fixture and it does not bring to them comfort because the income is still low for their survival. In conclusion, the artisanal fishing itself does not contribute to the local development because there are other elements connected directly to this activity which generates jobs and income for ensuring sustenance for many families living in these districts. In addition, this research brings a stepwise for the recommendation of the local government as well as the input of the ideas of how the artisanal fishing is not sustainable as the people can imagine about it. This work can be used for the plan of the local government to encourage them to work in partnership with the fisherfolk, creating project that are focused on local development.Dissertação Acesso aberto (Open Access) Pesca artesanal no Parque Nacional do Cabo Orange: contextos de conflito socioambiental e estratégias de manejo alternativo(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2014-08-26) RAVENA CAÑETE, Uriens Maximiliano; SANTOS, Sônia Maria Simões Barbosa Magalhães; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2136454393021407This work aims to understand and describe how artisanal fishermen, who traditionally exploit the areas surrounding and within a conservation unit, specifically Cabo Orange, National Park, located in the municipality of Oiapoque, coast of Amapá, have ordered politically and environmentally with respect to environmental conflict scenarios in coastal waters - in fishing grounds. Thus, the study uses a qualitative methodology and privileges those involved in the setting of the fishing town of Oiapoque, these are: fishermen of Pará, ICMBio and fishermen of Amapá. The search results show that most of the artisanal fishermen associated with the Fishermen Colony of Oiapoque are remnants of a fishing community that was located inside the Park, call Village Tapereba. The National Parks are a model of conservation unit integral to nature protection, not allowing a human presence or exploitation of its resources. Consequently, this population was expropriated and from the interviews it was possible to see how the artisanal fishermen of Oiapoque, along with the Fishermen Colony of Oiapoque, outlined and proposed a management and a compensatory measure for expropriation has occurred since the creation of that park.Dissertação Acesso aberto (Open Access) A pesca de curral no município de São Caetano de Odivelas-PA(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2013-02-22) FIDELLIS, Carolina de Nazaré Aleixo; BARTHEM, Ronaldo Borges; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4192105831997326The fish weir is one of the most traditional and productive fishing gear from the coast of Pará. Its production reaches about 10% of fisheries production of Northeastern of Pará (Santos et al., 2005). The fishing productivity depends on the type of the corral and as the place where it is installed. To achieve this work, 12 fishing corrals were selected and classified according to the type (heart, shoves and pipe), the place of installation ("edge/brink" or "out") and the type of environment in which it is (riverbanks, the edge of the beach and sandbar/banks), were georeferenced and had its fishing productivity accompanied during the period of harvest (June, July and August) from 2012. In the community of San Juan de Ramos, were found roadside corrals 3 of type heart, installed on the banks of the Paruipema River, and 3 corrals out of type shoves, installed on sandbanks in the beaches mouse and of the sailor. In the community of Aê, were monitored 6 classified as corrals of the edge, 3 of type heart and 3 of type pipe, and all met installed in beach Ponta de Itaipu. 4.274 individuals were captured, distributed in 9 orders, 20 families and 43 species of fish. The order Perciformes was the one that presented the largest number of families (10 families or 50% of the total), the largest number of species (19 or 44%) and the largest number of individuals (3,190 or 75% of the total). Sciaenidae and Ariidae families are the most abundant in the region both in number of species and individuals. The Sciaenidae family was presented the highest number of individuals (2,855 or 67%), but had fewer species (8 or 19%) that the family Ariidae, with 10 species or 23% of the total. Of the 43 species caught, the four most represented were: Macrodon ancylodon (51%), Arius couma (9%), Cynoscion virescens (9%) and Mugil incilis (4%). The comparison of the catch between the Stockyards and localities over the months of monitoring indicated that the total production of corrals differed between the types of corrals associated with your location.Dissertação Acesso aberto (Open Access) Práticas locais e regras institucionais: uso dos recursos naturais por pescadores artesanais da Resex Marinha Caeté-Taperaçu(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2018-08-27) MORAES, Rodrigo Leal; DARNET, Laura Angélica Ferreira; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3450720474559096In this research, the productive activities carried out by artisanal fishermen in two communities, inserted in the context of an Extractive Reserve, were analyzed to obtain answers regarding the possible changes in relation to the know-how of the fishermen after the implementation of rules of usage and agreements of coexistence deriving from the creation of the Caeté-Taperaçu Marine Extractive Reserve, located in the municipality of Bragança-Pa. The analysis of the practices of individuals who use the resources in an environment of common use, where there is the dependence of the natural resources and the dispute for the appropriation of the territory with other actors, including the State and representatives of the civil society, is what this work intends to present, seeking answers about the possible changes in artisanal fishing practices after the creation of the Extractive Reserve. The study begins from the hypothesis that the dynamic relations between institutions and individuals that have diverse interests relating to the available resources can be a relationship of continuity or resignification, where the external conditioning, such as rules created by institutions, and the subjectivity of the individual, materialized through practices, are factors that must be considered to the efectiveness reach of territories' objectives created not only for nature's conservation, but also for the maintenance of the livelihoods of artisanal fishermen through Marine Extractive Reserves.Dissertação Acesso aberto (Open Access) A relação trabalho e educação no contexto dos acordos de pesca em Cametá/PA: uma alternativa econômica ou uma prática de resistência?(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2013-06-28) BARRA, José Domingos Fernandes; SILVA, Gilmar Pereira da; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7624395840820523From the relationship between Labor Education established within a community of fishermen in the município of Cametá, are analyzed fisheries agreements, while strategic ways to manage fish stocks in rivers and gifts for daily routine these workers. Thus we seek the voice of these subjects (fishermen) to identify the problems, difficulties and gains on these agreements, but also how these documents are capable of inciting mechanisms of collective organization, through the co-management of fisheries resources among residents of communities where the research is performed. Initially seeking his own recognition, then recognition as category, while social class, subjects studied fishermen are in the process of setting up either in their struggle inserted individually or in social movements. We aim thus to grasp the importance of his work and how it is steeped in their knowledge and in their economic and/or organizational practices. Similarly, starting from conceptions to describe logical community that are around ways to access and perform maintenance and management of its spaces, which we want to understand the fundamentals that enable shared use of fishery resources.Dissertação Acesso aberto (Open Access) Seletividade de captura, dinâmica populacional, análise de estoque e sustentabilidade da pesca de Hemiodus unimaculatus (Bloch, 1794) a montante da barragem de Tucuruí, Brasil(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2013-04-23) MARTINS, Jeronimo Carvalho; CINTRA, Israel Hidenburgo Aniceto; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6632466008150577; SARPEDONTI, Valérie; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2358097649881792Hemiodus unimaculatus (Bloch, 1794) is one of the main species landed into the area of influence of Tucuruí Hydroelectric plant; however there is little information available about the fishery and biology of the species in the area. Therefore, this study aims to investigate spatial changes of H. unimaculatus, determine selectivity curves for the fishing nets used and calculate some parameters of population dynamics. The study area was located on Tucuruí’s dam, including the reservatory (flooded area) and up-river section. The samples were colected on a quaterly basis for the years 2001, 2003, 2005, 2006 and 2006, and semiannually in 2002 and 2004, in five areas located in the lake and two areas upstream, usinga battery of gillnets 50 m long and 3 m high, with a stretched mesh size of 40, 60, 80, 100 mm between opposing nodes. The Kruskal-Wallis test was used to compare mean total length and weight of the specimens at a significance level of 5%, the spatio-temporal variation of the catch was determined by cluster analysis and the SIMPER; selectivity for network construction curves selection, and population aspects (growth, longevity, mortality, recruitment and yield per recruit) with the aid of the FISAT II. Results showed that females were bigger and heavier than males. During the first period (2001 – 2003) the study area was shared in spawning grounds and growth, while in the final period (2005-2007) there was no difference in the use of space. The mesh of 60 mm is the most suitable for fishing, considering the capture of 50% of adults. The sex ratio was 1.44:1 favorable to females (χ2 c = 28.86; p < 0.0001). Relations total weight / total length showed a positive correlation and did not differ between sexes (t = -0.097; p = 0.9229), with males and females exhibited isometric growth. The condition factor was not different between the sampling points, suggesting that the species uses the entire study area as a feeding zone. The von Bertalanffy growth parameters were L∞ = 358 mm, k = 0.55 yr-1 and t0 = -0.15 year. The average total mortality and natural were 3.04 yr-1 and 0.7 yr-1, respectively. The exploitation rate was estimated at 0.77 and the yield per recruit showed that the rate of exploitation of the H. unimaculatus stock should be reduced by 52% to maintain the recruitment and spawning. So with all the information generated, it can be seen that change in the structure and spatio-temporal dynamics of H. unimaculatus is a process of continuous adaptation and appropriate fisheries management becomes essential for the preservation of the species. To reach this goal, it is necessary to review the current fisheries legislation, seeking an optimal mesh size for catching the species, decrease the rate of exploitation and regularly monitor the selectivity and population parameters.Dissertação Acesso aberto (Open Access) Território e territorialidade de pescadores nas localidades Céu e Cajuúna Soure-PA(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2009-04-20) GUEDES, Eneias Barbosa; PIMENTEL, Márcia; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3994635795557609; PALHETA, João Márcio; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5356047514671129The study presents the discussion on the issue of fishing in areas of Céu and Cajuúna in the city of Soure. These areas are located in micro-region of the Ararí mesoregion of Marajó- Pará. The fishery is developed in the rural context of the Amazonian territorial scope. Fishing is the result of the interaction of components: Seasonality environmental, natural resources and fishing capacity of the region. It is worth highlighting the territorial dimension of fishing for fishermen to understand their concepts of territorys and territorialitys. The fishermen of the areas of Cajuúna and Céu have the centrality of their living space and reproduction in fishing activity, and the rural villages of fishermen are expressions of the power of local collectivities. In this work, is questioned how the Geographical Science understand the ownership, domain, and use of space by fishermen. For this, we tried to understand, through research, the actions of different social actors involved in the problems addressed. At this point, we tried to understand the meaning of the territoriality of local fishermen, their relationship with nature, and their work organization in order to obtain a better visibility of the territories of fishermen. These territories are defined and appropriated to the aquatic environment and its configuration is inaccurate. "Possession" of these territories is vast and very fluid, due to seasonal dynamic of water and fish. For fishermen, fishing is more than one activity, because it involves a complexity of relationships and phenomena, between man and nature, which has influence on the forms of social organizations of these groups. The techniques of production of the fishermen are part of their cultural complex of ownership and appropriation of nature. These techniques define elements of life in the processes of territorialization and construction of the identity of the fisherman.
