Agroextrativismo: sustentabilidade e estratégias produtivas na Reserva Extrativista do Rio Cajari, sul do Amapá
(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2004) BENJAMIM, Aldrin Mário da Silva; SIMONIAN, Ligia Terezinha Lopes; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6620574987436911; https://orcid.org/0000-0001-6690-7244
The creation of the Extractive Reserves, in the beginning of the decade that started in 1990, arises as an alternative of administration of forest resources in the Units of Conservation (UC). Centered as a principle of the coadministration between the State and the resident traditional populations, these Reserves defense, economic and social viability depends in a large part on the local organization of the agroextractivists. However, in spite of the enormous potential of economical exploration of forest products, as the Amazon nuts (Bertholletia excelsa) and the açai (Euterpe oleraceae Mart.), of the strong agricultural tradition and of the hunting and fishing's many possibilities, multiple difficulties persist inside the Extractive Reserves Cajari River (Amapa). The conception of the Sustainable Development and the little production regarding the traditional populations in areas of such Reserves constituted the decisive factors to the beginning of this research. In this way, the study the about the Agroextractivism: sustainability and strategies in the Extractive Reserves Cajari River, south of Amapa tries to identify the evolution and the strategies of the productive base of the population who live in this UC, in the areas of high and low Cajari, in an attempt of revealing the rationality of the local agroextractivism. Therefore, it is expected to evidence the dimension of the change process resulting from the Reserve policies associated with the social movements, with implications in the environmental, social and economic fields.

The main objective of this thesis is to identify and analyze, where agroextractivism is concerned and within the context of gender-related social relations, the most significant extractive income-generating activities and those intended for financial autonomy, and how they correlate with the productive cycles of the natural resources being used and the family arrangements that are built in the Cajueiro Community, located within the limits of the Caeté-Taperaçu Marine Extractive Reserve, in Pará State - part of the Brazilian Amazon. And as specific objectives: to understand how the main agroextractivist practices and the gender based social relations related thereto are articulated; to identify how men and women work in the activities related to the use of natural resources aimed at financial autonomy and those geared at marketing; to investigate power relations that permeate the rules established as from the presence of the Resex and the day-to-day life of the dwellers; and to identify the most critical issues related to life in the community, in the perception of the local social players. The main theoretical foundation of this research was Michel Foucault’s contribution, particularly with regard to the notion of power relations. It was based on qualitative research and information-gathering techniques in the field: participant observation, semi-structured interviews, focus group and circle of conversation. It can be concluded that agroextraticvism constitutes the basis of productive activities in the community being studied, with family agriculture being the most representativeness. In addition, fishing stands out for the many types of fish as well as shrimp and crab harvesting. Said activities are performed according to the productive and reproductive movement of the natural resources being used, which imply family arrangements anchored, in turn, by gender-based social relations. And, despite the implications of power that surround it, said community – following the example of most so-called traditional peoples - does not allow itself to be subdued, thus renewing itself and resisting in its way of life, even if in such way it would be contrary to the current global context.

The research focus especially in the analysis of the rural territorial setting of Mocajuba‟s city, which is located in Baixo-Tocantins region. The mocajubense rural is predominantly peasant. Based in the notion of trajectories, it is intended to study the specificity of the peasant economy, particularly its segment based on the agroextractivism (T2), it sets, under a work intermediation, Mocajuba‟s territory. This ancestral peasantry founded a dynamic linked to structural processes that movements the region‟s economy from a productive logic whose technical domain of the production is given by specific havings, whose management practices presuppose the biome‟s maintenance. This peasant way of life is grounded under identity and territorial relations predetermined and which surpass the physical limits proposed by areas of land regularization. These territorialities fundament the productive and reproductive relations of these agents who operates the biome in a specific manner. Based on this, it is aimed to indicate how much work the agents of the T2 peasant trajectory, use in the territory, illustrating these settings through cartographical representation. Enabling the interaction economy-territory in the understanding of the space, not only as an extension of the actions, but also as quality. It is searched up the understanding of how the interaction is made in an economy based in typical peasant structures of the agroextractivist‟s trajectory T2. This is, how it happens in a marked territory by the productive and reproductive T2 dynamics.

The Agroforestry Settlement Projects (ASP) has largely been successful in achieving land ownership by traditional communities in the Amazon. In 2005, an ASP has been created by the National Institute of Colonization and Land Reform (INCRA) in Santarém County (PA), the so-called ASP of Great Lake, which has an area of 290,000 hectares and 30,000 inhabitants, and corresponds to one of the largest land reform settlements ever created in Brazil. In this agrarian context, this work aims to use scenarios derived from participatory methods in conformity with the reality of Amazon. Scenarios are tales of the future designed to better reflect from business planning to environmental analysis, using a variety of techniques and goals. Therefore, this work evaluate whether this technique can give support to the consolidation of different territorial units in this region. Thus, the ASP of Great Lake was used here as a case study. As a result, the study shows that there is great potential for replication such efforts in other agrarian reform methods of settlements and in units of conservation and sustainable use.

(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2020-12) FELIZARDO, Alciene Oliveira; ROCHA, Carla Giovana Souza
The present work aims to characterize the productive practices of Amazonian agroextractive families, evidencing the process of insertion of bird breeding provided by participation in a local project. For that, eleven families from the Capim, Caripetuba and Xingu Islands, Abaetetuba municipality in Pará, were interviewed. The study identified that the agroextractive families from the Capim, Caripetuba and Xingu Islands are heterogeneous with regard to the availability of resource bases (social and materials), composition, organization and functioning of the family-establishment system. Agroextractive families were classified into three types a) type I: restricted base of material resources with predominance of external income; type II: material resource base with medium diversity and income centered on the extraction of açaí, fish and shrimp; and, type III: material resource base with high diversity and multiple sources of income. This reveals that the agroextractive families that benefit from the local project develop different practices guided by the particularities of the familyestablishment system that imply permanence or resistance in the face of standardized agricultural development projects.

(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2018-04-09) FELIZARDO, Alciene Oliveira; ROCHA, Carla Giovana Souza; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6995325935325969
The study of expansion mid-organic amazonic is a challenge, in the metmatization of specfies of biological and fisical space, human specifies and productions logicals in this territory. This work examines how the productive logical of agroextrativistas influenced the process of technological innovation triggered by the agricultural development projects implemented in the Capim, Caripetuba and Xingu’s islands in Abaetetuba, Pará. To meet this purpose, the reflections articulates the theoretical-analytical resources related to three central themes, productive arrays that guide the development projects in rural areas, the process of introducing technological innovations from agricultural development projects and the systemic approach applied to the study of the productive strategies. This work chose to analyze the "Project Producing the Inclusion" implemented by the Association of Residents of the Abaetetuba’s islands. It has been found that the productive logic of agroextrativistas families have been decisive in the process of technological innovation triggered by the agricultural development projects on the islands of Abaetetuba. This occurs in function of the decision-making centers develop their specific strategies based on the endogeneity of the practices carried out in their family farms. The complexity of logics of the agroextrativistas identified, reveals the need for a change of focus in the processes of interventions designed to realities such as the Capim, Caripetuba and Xingu’s islands, related in the Amazon territory. The programmatic approach, used by the "Project Producing the Inclusion" caused the nonpermanence of technological innovation in the systems family establishment. In addition, there is a need for advances in interventions that enable the strengthening of animal husbandry based on strategic approach adopted by agroextrativistas.

Miriti: o Açaí do Inverno? extrativismo, comercialização e consumo de frutos de Mauritia flexuosa L.f. no Estuário Amazônico
(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2016) SOUSA, Fagner Freires de; Silva, Camila Vieira da; BARROS, Flávio Bezerra; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4706140805254262; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-6155-0511
To analyze the potential of miriti fruit extraction to riverine social reproduction and front biodiversity conservation to "açaização" of family production units (UPFs) the Amazon estuary, we undertook field research with 22 riverine families in Sirituba island Abaetetuba - PA, where the miriti extraction is still recurring. In search of driving used the case study as a methodological strategy, using the participant observation, application of semi-structured questionnaires, non-directive interviews and daily production during the 2015 harvest season (January-May), which made it possible to apprehend the practices used in this system, the social division of labor, the formation of marketing channels and the use of miriti in the daily diet. In order to know the eating of the fruit uses in Abaetetuba, we conducted interviews with mingauleiros of miriti and participant observation in the food court of the last two editions of Miriti Fest. The results revealed a vast knowledge on the part of riverine on miriti and the existence of a relationship of reciprocity between men and palm trees, which point to the conservation of the species. In the production aspect, we found the intense family participation in work with miriti which is held collectively, providing opportunities for the intergenerational exchange of knowledge, which favors the strengthening of tradition about the extraction of the palm. The economic potential of the activity was also evident, with strong demand for the fruit and its derivatives in Abaetetuba, the main market accessed by Sirituba extractive, are commercialized about 125 t. per month, short marketing circuits highlighting (for sale at the fair and on demand), which make possible an average monthly income above the minimum wage and average revenue per crop similar to the açai extraction. The food uses of fruit were recorded both in the rural context, which includes all meals significantly contribute to food security and sovereignty, as in the urban context, where it is consumed on a day-to- day, mostly in the form of porridge and reinterpreted makes if “party food” during Miriti Fest. Thus, we conclude that the miriti extraction is a traditional productive activity with the potential to ensure the riverine reproduction during the açai off season and contribute to biodiversity conservation if done sustainably. We add also the need for investments in public policies to encourage this practice and to strengthen the productive chain of miriti.

(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2013-06) LIMA, Lucas Peranovichi; GUERRA, Gutemberg Armando Diniz; MING, Lin Chau; MACEDO, Magno Roberto Alves
The aim of the study is to demonstrate the occurrence and usage of the Tucumã (Astrocaryum vulgare Mart.) in rural areas of the Municipality of Irituia, in the State of Pará (Brazil), since the use of the palm part of the traditional culture of communities of farmers, riparian and quilombola, used in curing diseases in human and domestic animals, building shelters, obtaining fibers, production of tools and crafts, hunting and fishing. In addition to the uses reported by the population, tucumã has potential for the production of oil and biodiesel. In this sense, the Federal University of Pará – UFPA, in a partnership with the Irituia’s Municipal Government, is studying the implementation of an oleaginous processing plant in the municipality, among them, and includes the Tucumã as a potential source. Such proposal stipulates the production in the agroforestry system, as an alternative to the slash and burn agriculture in the region, reconciling environmental conservation with territorial rural development. Considering the results obtained in the field, it has been found an average of 9.4 stumps per hectare, each stump having 7.7 stipes and 4.7 racemes with up to 146 fruits. If all the Tucumã’s stumps were kept until they reached their average productivity capacity, it is estimated that the fruit production in the rural area of the municipality would be around 132.060 tons, which could produce up to 12.665,4 tons/year of pulp oil and 4.768,4 tons/year of nut oil, confirming the supply of raw material to move this productive chain.

This dissertation deals with the agroecological transition in the context of agroecosystems of agroextractivist peasants in the Amazon. This issue has generated academic controversies and important political challenges for the agroecological movement. The research sought to contribute to the deepening of this debate through the analysis of agroecosystems based on the contributions of political agroecology based on the articulation between political ecology, common resources theory and the systemic approach. The results reveal the necessity of the agroecological transition due to the crisis of the traditional management of the agroecosystems of the agroextractivist peasants.
