Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Ação coletiva e meios de vida: análise das transformações operadas pela Cooperativa dos Pequenos Produtores Agroextrativistas de Lago do Junco (Coppalj) em comunidades do Médio Mearim, MA(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2021-02-26) NASCIMENTO, Aline Souza; PORRO, Roberto; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2282097420081043The search for better living conditions and commercialization of production led to the emergence of the Cooperative of Small Agroextractive Producers of Lago do Junco (Coppalj), which, since its emergence, has contributed to improve social reproduction conditions for its subjects, through a combination of a range of social, economic and environmental resources, that allow them to guard against lack of opportunities, poverty and marginalization resulting from social injustices. The work seeks to identify the transformations in local livelihoods derived from the combination of strategies adopted by Coppalj and the perceptions of members and non-members about its effectiveness, as well as its contribution to the construction of self-management, peasant autonomy and productive and technological diversification within its territory. The study is based on bibliographic and documentary consultation, combined with semi-structured and interactive interviews in communities where Coppalj operates. It demonstrates how, with its policy of valuing agricultural and extractive production, the cooperative collaborated for the emergence of new perspectives and the increase in families‟ access to income. It also highlights the actions taken by peasants during agrarian conflicts, which resulted in the creation of organizations that have played an important role in guaranteeing their rights, and the contribution of actions of the Catholic Church to peasant political organization in the Mearim Valley.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Agricultura familiar camponesa no planalto santareno: formas de existência em Mojuí dos Campos-PA(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2020-09-09) BORGES, Anderson Coelho; FOLHES, Ricardo Theophilo; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5612208724254738Peasant family agriculture is characterized by those families that, through land ownership and access to available natural resources, seek to solve their productive and reproductive problems through extractive, agricultural and non-agricultural rural production. Taking this concept into account, the objective is to analyze in a multiscale way the characteristics that enable the understanding of the conditions related to the decision of the peasant family to seek or not to trigger pluriativity. To this end, using an interdisciplinary approach, qualitative and quantitative data were used, obtained, respectively, through the participant observation technique in two communities - Mojuí dos Pereiras and Terra de Areia - located in the municipality of Mojuí dos Campos and from the mobilization of the secondary database and the selection of variables (land, labour force and institutional context) collected in field research with the peasant production units. Thus, in the light of peasant investment theory, a pattern was identified among peasant families that engage in non agricultural activities, they have restrictions on land, labour or both, while those families that have land and labour force in conditions sufficient for their reproduction are dedicated only to agricultural labourItem Acesso aberto (Open Access) Agricultura familiar na Amazônia Oriental: uma comparação dos resultados da pesquisa socioeconômica sobre fronteiras agrárias sob condições históricas e agroecológicas diversas(1999-12) HURTIENNE, Thomas PeterNa Amazônia Oriental, a agricultura familiar representa uma parte economicamente significativa do setor agrário. Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Aspectos evolucionários das unidades de produção camponesas do território Manaus e entorno(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2010-11-04) SANTOS, Jessé Rodrigues dos; SIMONIAN, Ligia Terezinha Lopes; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6620574987436911In this thesis, it is approached the processes of change and diversification of the peasants productive systems located in a part of the Territory of Manaus and surroundings. The objective of the research is the understanding of the processes of economic and technological change in course in these productive systems. The boarding of the subject is carried through a multi-disciplinary analytical structure to involving concept of the evolutionary economic theory, of the theory of the endogenous development, the economic anthropology and the theory of the peasant investment. The joined results disclose that the studied productive systems are diversified in relation to the territories where they occur. This diversification elapses in the way as the peasant producers adapt their productive systems modifying the labor routines that constitute them in function of the injunctions proceeding from the complex institutional environment and of the dynamics of the ecosystems. These adaptations are guided by the sociocultural characteristics inherent to the peasant families and motivated by the search of the reproductive efficiency. To the end, the data of the field research are processed through the Factorial Analysis, disclosing differentiations of trajectories of similar productive systems in distinct territories, as well as clusters that locate the peasant producers between situations of integration to the market and subsistence subsidized for social and social security benefits. These results evidence the complexity of the socioeconomia peasant and its diverse strategies of adaptive innovation.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Campesinato e abastecimento na Zona Bragantina (1880–1960)(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2010-04-29) LEANDRO, Leonardo Milanez de Lima; SILVA, Fábio Carlos da; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3704903975084467Historically constituted by free workers who had occupied the territory nearby Bragança, the bragantino peasantry contributed for the supplying of commercial circuits and developed industrial activities in Para. The theoretical and conceptual articulation that based the interpretation of transformations on the Zona Bragantina is placed in a critical perspective, whose conceptions deal with categories as dynamic elements, therefore inserted in a historical and materialist perspective. It criticizes the interpretations on the responsibility attributed to the peasantry for the ambient degradation, Para’s supplying crisis and for the agricultural production frequently assigned as declining, always placing the field in relation to the city. Bragantina’s occupation and expansion was observed, as well as the transformations which passed the road of Bragança and the contribution of producing nuclei created by the colonies. Even though the excluding character of the imperial government actions, during the republican phase the peasantry passed through social transformation processes, whose critical perspective put it back in history as responsible for part of Amazonia’s supplying. In consequence of the shortening of fallow period, the peasants made a technical change that evidences its sensitivity to the markets. Thus, the production of diverse foodstuffs and other products for the agro industry based its reproductive processes, guided not only for the attendance of family needs but also for the attendance of market demands. In conclusion, the Zona Bragantina, although has been received capitalists investments, still configures itself which a peasant frontier and, ultimately, the declining argument would be replaced by diversity.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Campesinato, identidade e memória: os tiradores de açaí ou como colocar-se no mundo(2014-06) SALES, Sammy Silva; PORRO, Noemi Sakiara MiyasakaThis paper aims think the relation between peasantry and identity concepts as from the case study of tiradores de açaí, called Monteiro family, villagers Monteiro, located in Afuá, state of Pará. The field datas were collected through participant observation and interview in 2011 and 2012. This concept helps to understand the experiences undertaken by peasant households during the occupation, creation and implementation processes of the Virola Jatobá Sustainable Development Project in the municipality of Anapu, State of Pará, Brazil. During these processes, family units built and added, on the basis of their “living law”, different notions of land rights emanated from their social practices, which are often opposed from those of the formal law. In the process of occupation, the research highlights the social and legal practices of the leaders of social local organizations and the families of the first occupants of the area. By registering these practices, it is possible to abstract the notion of rights to of land for those who work on it. In the process of the formal establishment of the settlement, families began to take command of the PDS, through the constitution of an Association, which could negotiate claims on their behalf with the governmental institutions, particularly INCRA, and thus set up the notion of rights to land for those who work on it with relative authonomy. In the process of implementation of the PDS, families faced the execution of the community-based forest management project, which involved a process of negotiation between the government and families regarding the adoption of new working conditions. In this negotiation, the families built the notion of land rights for those who work on it with authonomy taking care of the forest.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Do uso comum ao parcelamento da terra: as transformações territoriais em uma comunidade camponesa do Baixo Acará, Acará/PA(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2020-03-29) JESUS, Edenilze Conceição Silva de; TORRES, Mauricio Gonsalves; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3514108376561503This research analyses territorial changes and on a traditional farmer community called Centro Alegre, located on Baixo Acará region, Acará /PA, North East of Pará, over the past two decades. It's about an ethnographic research that was made based on qualitative and quantitative approaches, with information obtained by semi structured pools, by observing participants and historical interviews. The community estudied organized from common land use and access to natural resources. But, in the early 2000s, the community's territory is crossed by a highway and this triggers a series of transformations, including, resulting in a parceling of the communal land occupied in single-family fractions, which generates significant transformations in the group's socioterritorial organization. This research revealed that with the parceling out of the community's lands, there was a significant decrease in its territory and a process of selling land fractions started. Of the total of 13 parcels of land in which the community was divided, only three remain integral, without having been sold at least one piece. Of the remaining ten, six were broken up and had some portion sold, and four were sold entirely. Ethnographic research in the community, with observation in the form of territorial occupation, revealed that families today live in a context of strong limitations of natural resources in their plots, reaching the point that most of them have no more gardens. It was also observed that the community has undergone profound changes in social relations between the individuals that constitute it.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Economia global e vivência local na Amazônia: mineração e campesinato em São Pedro, município de Juruti - PA(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2013) CASTRO, Isabela Andrade de; NAHUM, João Santos; http://lattes.cnpq.br/9009465125001273In this thesis we present a survey of the interference suffered by the community São Pedro in Juruti, west of Pará state, since the beginning of the installation of the mining activity in the town. At the beginning of the 21st. century installing Juruti project by ALCOA, triggered a series of local and regional transformations that linked the rise to global mining economy. Our analysis focuses on rural areas, especially the processes experienced by the community São Pedro, who received from the licensing of mining projects for rural development, for example Pajiroba the project, the project of raising chickens and FUNBIO funded the extraction 's project EMATER. Featuring the form of implementation of these projects are designed to analyze how development policies for rural areas in Brazil, which has always meant the peasantry as a synonym for delay, a living space to be developed through investments in agricultural projects. This strategy which, according to our research, ignores the specificity of the peasantry in the Amazon, thus tending to limitations that go beyond agriculture, because confronting a complex way of life that has diversified to continue to exist.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) El campesinado de la Amazonia colombiana: una historia de menosprecio institucional, constitución identitaria y lucha por el reconocimiento(2009-12) RUIZ, Henry SalgadoTo understand the construction processes of the identity and organizational experiences of the peasants who currently inhabit the Colombian western Amazon region, it is necessary to know the historical characteristics that defi ned the social occupation of this geographical area. As in other colonization processes which took place in the Peruvian, Bolivian and Ecuadorian Amazon, in Colombia the peasants who occupied the Amazonian space in the fifties and sixty arrived after being expelled by the reproduction and expansion of the capital. But, unlike these countries, in Colombia, during these same years, the State undertook a military persecution against those peasants who had resisted the land expropriation process. In this sense, and seeking to comprehend the identity construction process of these peasants, this article will present a brief historical reconstruction of their first organizational efforts and a description of how they undertook their identification process as a social group. Finally, the article will analyze the mechanisms of resistance that Colombian Amazon peasants have created and consolidated in their struggles for recognition and their struggles against injustice and institutional disrespect experienced by decades.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Impactos do REDD em uma economia camponesa amazônica: uma análise baseada em eficiência reprodutiva(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2012-11-14) SILVA, Luiz Gonzaga Feijão da; COSTA, Francisco de Assis; http://lattes.cnpq.br/1820238947667908This dissertation aims to analyze the potential impacts of REDD in the Amazon peasant economy, considering its production and reproduction. Consolidated as one of the oldest structures peasants of Brazil, the technological trajectory agroforestry (T2), studied in this research, has been managing sustainably, for centuries, the territories where it predominates in the Amazon. The peasants agents have an economy driven by a very specific rationality as its microeconomics and their relations with the capitalist market environment. Such peculiarities of the economy require more complex analyzes, disqualifying greatnesses socially established, especially lucre and income as a way to measure changes in these structures. The insertion of the monetary resources of REDD (monetary resources external the family production) have different impacts accordance with the reproductive patterns field that characterizes the family units, this pattern defined using essentially the greatnesses that meet the requirements of economic rationality of such structures: If h is converging to β, namely, for the crisis field, REDD will promote increased in potential investment short-term and production long-term. If h is converging to h ° = (2 * β) / (1 + β), namely, for the excitation investments field, resources REDD allowed the increase of the potential investment (already the highest among the fields) short-term and production long-term according to the age of the family. If h is converging to 1, namely, the comfort field, REDD cause long-term reduction of potential investment, h, production and increase the dependency of industrialized products which may compromise long-term the reproduction units in this field. The families that converge to the excitation field investments are mostly in the sample. Other result is the qualification of services provided by agents of agrarian Amazon, using the notion of technological paradigm behind the technological trajectories and of the % GHG emissions by technological trajectory, which would provide a fair and efficient criterion for a future REDD regime in Brazil and will assist in achieving your objective.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) A Interferência da mineração industrial na estabilidade de assentamentos rurais: o caso de Parauapebas(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2006-08-03) TEIXEIRA, Sheila do Socorro Lima; MONTEIRO, Maurílio de Abreu; http://lattes.cnpq.br/8077335023133373In the Southeastern Pará State two productions fronts comprise both a peasant and a mineral one, mainly starting in the 70s when they have suffered both pressures and reciprocal influences. In such a context, the dissertation analyzes the hole exerted on the mining companies activities practised on the peasants production stabilization in three settlements located in the municipality of Parauapebas, Pará State, Brazil. The dissertation indicates that the dynamics due to the instalations of large mining enterprises have contribute to the production rearrangements in the settlements. Among the changes being observed there has been a land valorization and the childrens of the settlements have left out the parcels of land to the cities and provoking the weakness of the workmanship which sustain the family production. There has been a better quality of the products because of the increasing urban demand, and at the same time the contribution to the spatial and social level in the settlement. The dissertation conclusion indicates that with the mining interchange, conflicting dynamics arise concerning the stability of the peasant production in the studied rural settlements.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Mobilidade espacial de agricultores familiares em áreas de assentamento: um estudo de caso no PDS Anapu - Estado do Pará, Brasil(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2011-03-24) SANTOS, Ione Vieira dos; PORRO, Noemi Sakiara Miyasaka; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3982338546545478The spatial mobility of family farmers was a key process in the formation of the current Amazonian society, despite the contradictory public policies promoting displacements in the name of a development that never took place as promised. In addressing the issue of spatial mobility of farmers, we consider the history of the Brazilian peasantry, which is the history of struggle for land. In areas of the so-called agrarian reform settlements, it appears that this dynamics, which occurred in the past decades from south to north, in the case of the Transamazonica, it changed, and spatial mobility tends to occur internally, between localities within the region. In the case of the Sustainable Development Project - PDS Anapu and Settlement Expansion Project - PA Itapuama, it was found that access to land has not represented the achievement of the desired relative autonomy, because the conditions offered by the State to the so-called beneficiaries of agrarian reform have not assured the conditions for proper ownership of the land, leading them to new displacements in an attempt to ensure its reproduction as peasants in other spaces. Still, in our research, we conclude that the process of spatial mobility is configured as a reproductive strategy of peasant family, albeit with serious threats to the consolidation of the process of territorialization.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Nova Redenção: uma ruralidade amazônica(2011-06) RAVENA CAÑETE, VoynerThroughout the past three decades, growth in Brazilian agricultural sector has entailed changes in local rural ways of living. In the Amazon, rapid increase of such transformations has had profound impact on the everyday life of rural populations. Regarding rurality as a social value, the present paper describes Nova Redenção, a typical village in the Northeast of Pará, and the agricultural everyday life of its dwellers. The object of study is also characterized with regard to the debate over family agricultural production and its future in industrial societies.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Quando mudar é condição para permanecer: a escola Casa Familiar Rural e as estratégias de reprodução social do campesinato na Transamazônica (Pará-Amazônia)(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2010-06-28) MENESES, Alcione Sousa de; MAGALHÃES, Sônia Barbosa; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2136454393021407This paper analyses the relations between schooling (configured in the Rural Familiar House) and the strategies for reproduction of the social organizations, representative of the peasants in its interface with the families of the farmers in the Transamazonian region, pionnering front of the colonization of the West of the Pará State (Brazil), especially in the town of Medicilância. This school, thought through this social and collective agents in a national and regional setting of public-making of the scenes that weaken the agriculture of the countrymen basis, starting in the mid-90s, has been an instrument of social conflict. The tensions in the social space, interpreted as ‘crisis of the basis’ and ‘crisis of the production systems’, had simultaneously drawn a ‘formation crisis’ in which the purposes of the school were built through socio-economic and political challenges. This setting had established the young farmers as a social category invested in the collective expectation of becoming, under the mediation of the RFH, agricultural technicians and/or managers, in order to give continuity to the group (either the agents, in the land of the social/ union and community-religious or in the families, in the agricultural succession and in the social position). The repercussion of the RFH in the farmer’s condition of the youth are analysed from quantitative and qualitative data, taking as reference the interests and investments of the social agents, the families, as well as the socio-professional insertions of the land and/or in the city of this youth after the schooling. The results of the RFH, considering this school as organized collective strategy that attempts to transforming for conserving the field of conflicts while system of objective relations of the social group that constitutes it, reveals that it has made possible the permanence of the young farmers on the land under several arrangements in which the relations with the peasants, the city, the technical/ school knowledge, and the ethics of work and relation with the “surrouning” land/ nature overlap. At the level of the domestic groups and of the rural collectivity (in which the representative organizations of the studied group are included), the social position of the young ones is charaterized by forms of visible social distinction in the socio-productive practices endorsed in the school capital, as well in the position of mediator managers and technicians.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) A reforma agrária na Amazônia paraense: implicações do processo de interdição de assentamentos rurais na vida de camponeses do Município de Pacajá(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2013-05-27) BRITO, Maria Natália Silva; GUERRA, Gutemberg Armando Diniz; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4262726973211880This dissertation analysis contradictions of the Agrarian Reform Program in the Amazon from the conjecture that initiated due to interdiction process of rural settlements in this region. Part of the historical agrarian policy in Brazil, verifies and reflects on the maintenance of the founded land structure grounded in this huge property. In the Amazon, the speeches that favored the peasant agriculture, turned into actions that benefited, in fact, the start of this huge capital in this region was through the policy of subsidies and tax fiscal incentives. Since the analysis of the two rural settlements located in the municipality of Pacajá-Pará that were banned by the federal justice in the year of 2007, the settlement of the Anapuzinho and the settlement of the Cupuzal demonstrate a distortion of the agrarian reform. Misconceptions in the bureaucratic procedures performed by the government land agency-the National Institute of Colonization and Agrarian Reform (INCRA) prevented the access of peasants to the official programs. The peasants still maintain in the area despite of the state omission in the formalization of the incorporation of these lands in the productive process of the country and the region.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Reforma agrária popular e agroecológica do MST: experiências de assentados do PA abril vermelho, Santa Bárbara-Pa(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2018-07-31) VILHENA, Luiz Felipe Nazaré; DARNET, Laura Angélica Ferreira; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3450720474559096Since its formation, the Brazil's Landless Workers Movement (MST in Portuguese) fights for land reform. On national scenario, it is the main campesine organization against “latifundios” (large landed estates), rural workers exploitation, poverty and income concentration in rural areas. It materializes its existence through the method of occupying land for reform. This consolidates how they organize and form the encampments spatialization and territorialization, doing process of "campesinação" (making common urban people into farmers) and "recampesinação" (making urban people who came from rural areas back to being farmers). This works intends to analyze and reflect MST's agro-ecological production strategies for areas previously under monoculture production. The research field was Abril Vermelho settlement in Santa Bárbara-PA. Therefore, we characterized how MST thinks and organizes its proposal for an agro-ecological production and identified along with Abril Vermelho settlers, their production strategies, trying to analyze the MST influence within it. The interdisciplinary methodological approach consisted in theoretical framework from agrarian and social sciences, funded in campesine, social movements and agroecology concepts. The research techniques were indirect documentation and field research with participative observation. The research procedures consisted in historical analysis, production practices characterization, semi-structured interviews, transverse walks and photographical registers on land plots. The research results shows that in Abril Vermelho settlement, the MST agro-ecological proposal has contributed on consolidating organic and sustainable production systems. Thus, in this analysis scale, the agro-ecological basis for MST's Agrarian Reform is indispensable to the construction of an efficient counter-hegemonic production system that values traditional knowledge and autonomy of small farmers.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Representações do outro e conflitos no uso da terra: o caso do PDS Virola Jatobá - Anapu / PA(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2018-02-26) BRITO, Arthur Erik Monteiro Costa de; PORRO, Noemi Sakiara Miyasaka; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3982338546545478The main rechearch aims at analyzing conflicts about forms of appropriation of natural resources among peasant families, having as an empirical study the case of the Virola Jatobá Sustainable Development Project (PDS), located at Transamazônica area, Anapu city in State of Pará. Based on empirical data collected in field work, analyzed with the contribution of socio-spatial concepts such as Landscape, Catography and Territory, we tried to highlight the peasant representations about the Other and the causes of the internalized conflict in this rural settlement, focusing on expressed in the Areas of Alternative Use, destined areas to the productive pratices of settled families. As part of methodology for data collection, direct and participant observations were made in the field, semi-structured interviews, field work photographic records. In addition, we collected and analyzed spatial data for the creation of maps by the team of researchers of self-management Project, in wich we participated. As a preliminar result, it could be noted that conflicts between peasants are locally attributed to false dualisms, such a pioneer-novices, agriculture-livestock, and Virola Jatobá Association-Freedom of People Association, on wich diverse meanings and values are created, fragmenting the social relations among the peasant segments of the settlement. As a final result, we see that conflicts have their genesis in antagonisms between social groups with different relations with nature, demonstrating that in the PDS Virola Jatobá there are several territorializations under construction.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) A reprodução sócio-econômica e produtiva do campesinato no Sudeste paraense: o Assentamento Palmares II, Parauapebas/PA(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2010-06-24) SOUZA, Haroldo de; HURTIENNE, Thomas Peter; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7133222063843073The southeast region of Pará State was the main stage of one of the strongest and most pungent occupation and colonization process ever seen in the Amazonian area as a whole. The high number of migrant peasant workers along the twentieth century, especially during the decades of 1970´s, 1980´s and 1980´s, occurred straightly together with another series of plans strategically thought out in order to colonize the area such as extensive agriculture, mining and energy generation projects. Due to the complex situation found in the regional agricultural system, nowdays this scenery is marked a high level of conflict, which brings up the region subjects to academic debate as being a frontier. From middle 90's conflicts and contestation has changed due to the adoption of settlement of agricultural laborers projects and the elaboration of politics aiming the improvement of self-sustainable familiar agriculture. Such facts made it possible for us to think in new sort of conflicts and possibilities of social and economic reproduction among those settled peasant communities. The current study, following the context described above, is therefore focused on the present possibilities of social and economic reproduction of the Palmares II settlement community, which is located at the neighborhood of the city of Parauapebas/PA, aiming to understand the real factors which are either allowing or not the Frontier Thesis to be disrupted and, in contrast, allowing a certain life stabilization to the settled peasants communities. Far beyond trying to evidence and prove the existence of new production system ways put into practice by the Palmares II settlement workers, the present work intend to disclose what are the economic, social and politics factors which are being important to keep improving the creation of possibilities on the peasant communities reproduction strategies.Item Acesso aberto (Open Access) Tensões, uso e apropriação da terra no Xingu: o caso da RESEX “Verde para Sempre”, Porto de Moz/PA(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2011 - 06) GONÇALVES, Maria Raimunda Martins; EMMI, Marília Ferreira; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4619867698790381The peasants' struggle for land in the Xingu at the turn of the twentieth century is the focus of this work. We will deal with forms of organization and struggle of the peasantry within the global/local dynamic that led to the creation of the extractive reserve "Verde para Sempre" in the municipality of Porto de Moz, state of Pará. It was in memory of social groups and through the research field that we seek the peasant perspective of development, and its actions and strategies to remain in their territories against the advancing of big business to the field from the 1960s in the Amazon.
