The destination of solid waste in most Brazilian cities is usually the Sanitary Landfills. The big problem around this theme is that many of these places do not strictly follow the mandatory environmental precepts recommended by the Law and thus cause several environmental and social damages to the communities that surround them. Therefore, this work presents as a general objective to understand the socio- environmental conflicts between the Urban Waste Processing and Treatment Center (CPTR) in Marituba of the company Guamá and the Quilombola Community of Abacatal. Having thus, the following specific objectives: to describe the political- administrative context of the implementation of the enterprise in Marituba; to analyze the main types of conflicts and to identify what were the resistance strategies of the community in the face of the problems suffered and as a product the elaboration of a Documentary to give visibility to the forms of resistance and the impacts caused. This enterprise, in turn, meets the demand of the Municipalities of Belém, Ananindeua and Marituba, located in the Metropolitan Region of Belém and is meeting some popular resistance by the organized social movement called: FORA LIXÃO! in the sense of ending its activities in the place where it is inserted. The concepts used in the context of the project are based on the current Environmental Legislation such as the National Solid Waste Policy and others and the theoretical contribution is anchored in Leff and Litlle. For the development of the work, qualitative research was used with methodological procedures such as: Bibliographic Research, Documentary Research, Participant Research and Field Research and others. In the results, Conflicts related to Social and Environmental Impacts generated by human and natural action were predominant.

Intervenção e exploração de recursos naturais em comunidade quilombola: o caso de Abacatal
(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2005-08-26) GOMES, Jorge Evandro Santos; SCHMITZ, Heribert; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2294519993210835
This study was conducted to examine possible impacts of the introduction of innovations by development officers in a community of slave descendants, from the standpoint of the farmer, as well as their views on the relevance of the activities implemented, discussing the factors that have influenced the adoption of innovations and the consequences of these changes in the form of land use and management of natural resources in the area. The results showed that, at the local level, factors such as the nature of the target audience participation in the projects, the results achieved in the intervention and the profile of the development officers exert strong influence on the decision of the small farmer in the appropriation of a practice. This study also revealed that requests of the services of Technical Assistance and Rural Extension (ATER) for the studied community was, above all, a complex strategy of farmers towards securing land tenure from the threat of „grileiros‟ who were trying to take their land. Another conclusion drawn from the study indicates that the sustainability of local family farms depend on profound changes in the predominant production system consisting of shifting cultivation and charcoal production, which is clearly impacting the forest cover of the territory of the slave descendants‟ community. A viable alternative would be the implementation of more complex systems such as agroforestry systems (SAF's), detected by this research in a pilot project and in isolated experiences in the community, along with the organization of production

Relações étnico-raciais e quilombos: dos conhecimentos socioculturais aos currículo da educação escolar quilombola na Amazônia paraense
(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2020-09) ANDRADE, Simei Santos; SANTOS, Raquel Amorim
This study analyzes Ethnic-Racial Relations and socio-cultural knowledge in quilombola communities in Northeast Pará and its interface with the Quilombola School Education curriculum. The qualitative approach was used, a documentary study of the Pedagogical Political Project of schools that work in Quilombola School Education and photographs on the socio-cultural aspects of quilombola communities in Northeast Pará. We used discourse analysis based on Bakhtin's discursive dialogism ( 2010) and specialized bibliography on the subject. The results of the study reveal that the PPP presents a curriculum focused on Quilombola School Education, considering the specificities of the historical, political, economic and socio-cultural reality of the quilombo, being flexible and dialogical (school and local community). Sociocultural knowledge is recognized and valued by the community and strengthened by a solidarity network, which keeps the quilombo's history and culture alive through the knowledge of the elders, the knowledge of the land and ancestry. It is concluded that the PPP for the quilombola school community is constituted as an emancipatory project (which houses conflicts, struggles and resistance). The curricular proposal of Quilombola School Education incorporates traditional knowledge from communities in conjunction with school knowledge (without hierarchy) and seeks to organize knowledge and social and cultural practices, considering the presence of knowledge that circulates, dialogues and questions the social life of quilombos surveyed in the Amazon of Pará.

Territorialidade e conflito ambiental: monocultura de palma versus comunidades remanescentes de quilombo no vale do Acará (PA)
(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2024-08-23) SILVA, JONAS DA CONCEIÇÃO; SOARES, Daniel Araújo Sombra; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6446474471044694; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-5208-2429; VASCONCELLOS SOBRINHO, Mário; http://lattes.cnpq.br/7843288526039148; https://orcid.org/0000-0001-6489-219X
The research aims to analyze the environmental conflicts arising from the expansion of oil palm cultivation and the demarcation/titling of quilombola territories in the Pará Amazon. Despite advances in public policy on the environment and territorial planning, implemented based on guaranteeing the constitutional right to quilombo remnants, with the State of Pará preceding all others in recognizing the first quilombo in Brazil, in 1995, the study observed the decrease in the issuance of titles after the approval of the ecological-economic zoning for oil palm, starting in 2010. The theoretical framework of the research was outlined based on the literature on territorial management, quilombos territory and territoriality, territorial planning and conflicts environmental. Methodologically, the work followed a case study, as a strategy to understand questions of “how” and “why” the contemporary social phenomenon under study develops. The lengthy titling process is part of the context of the specific case analyzed, with the exposure of the problems faced by the quilombos community, located on the banks of the Acará River, on the border of the municipalities of Acará and Thailand, in the search for recognition and titling of the area in question. Dispute with palm oil company, which exemplifies the perennial conflicts in the Amazon between environmental public policies and economic development.
