    Adesão ao tratamento anti-retroviral por cuidadores de crianças e adolescentes soropositivos de uma Unidade de Saúde do Estado do Pará

    The adhesion to treatment has been receiving a lot of attention in Health´s Psychology these years. Studies in this area reveal that the patients who don't take part in the treatment cannot receive benefits of therapeutical intervention. The literature about adhesion in the anti-retroviral´s treatment reveals that is the caretaker who usually has the responsibility for managing soropositive children and teenager´s treatment. This study aims to describe the standard adhesion of caretakers treatment who live in the State of Pará, identifying the variables that interfere in their participation. It still reveals the types of cope strategies used to deal with the adverse conditions of soropositivity. For that, it was carried out a descriptive study, of transverse cut, with 30 caretakers, enrolled in the “Unidade de Referência Materno-infantil e Adolescente do Estado do Pará” (UREMIA), using, as instruments of data collection, an interview with caretakers - which investigated socialdemografic, clinical and psicosocial children and teenager's aspects - and the “Escala Modos of Enfrentamento de Problemas” (EMEP). Concerning to caretakers participation, it was observed that some conditions facilitated the treatment´s adhesion. Those conditions were related to varied of family organization (such as the number of people that lived in a house), to the history of treatment interruption and the self-report of caretakers about the fulfilment standard which should be emitted about the success (or failure) of the adhesion. The influence of those varied demonstrated the influence of behavior control made by rules, because the caretakers emitted the fulfillment standard classified as "adhesion" in order to avoid being in contact with the aversive consequences of the non-continuation of the treatment. Concerning to the cope strategies, it was showed a major grade for Factor 3, emphasizing the use of strategies focused on religious practices and/or imaginative thoughts. This research verified that the caretakers of the sample avoided thinking about the soropositivity problem as it is really constituted, using religious thoughts or "magic" to continue working with the daily routine of the subject coping, which involved the condition of children and teenager’s soropositivity. Based on all this data, this research suggests that more studies should be carried out in order to investigate themes related to the function of social contigences about the behavior of children and teenager’s caretakers from Pará, and also investigate aspects concerned to the diagnosis revealing.

    Adesão ao tratamento do hipotireoidismo congênito segundo relato de cuidadores

    This study aims at identifying variables which interfere on the entry into the treatment according to reports of caregivers of children suffering from Congenital Hypothyroidism seen at the Center of Reference in Pará State. Fifty main caregivers, with different degrees of kinship to the children and ranging from 17 to 55 years old, took part in this study. The variables related to the treatment entry were identified by means of interviews with the caregivers following structured pilot instructions. Results showed that most of the caregivers are not aware of the characteristics of the disease, its etiology, diagnosis, treatment and prognostic, regardless the age, school degree, kinship and amount of time the child is on the Program, which makes the treatment entry more difficult. In most children, the Newborn Screening Test was not done in the right time, fact that brought damage to the treatment.

    Chronic diseases which require attention and continuous evaluations and have called for attention ofhealth professionals, specially those who devote themselves to the area ofPediatric Psychology, who devote themselves to the study of child development, as well as to the relationship between health and sickness and the interferences in the life quality of children and their relatives. This study aims accomplishing a descriptive study to identify variables making easier or more difficult, the adherence to the treatment of caregivers of children with Congenital Hypothyroidism, attended by the Center of Reference in Pará State. Fifty main caregivers ranging between 17 to 55 years of age. Forty mothers, four grandmothers, four fathers and two aunts took part in this study. Variables related to the adherence were identified by means of structured interviews. Program characteristics were analyzed through structured interviews carried out by the team professionals. The analyses of caregivers reports showed that some of the demands to the treatment adherence are not being supplied. Informations about the illness characteristics, etiology, diagnostics, treatment and prognostics are not part of the repertory of most caregivers, independently of age, school degree, degree of relationship with reiatives and time of participation in the Neonatal Selection Programo Significant differences were found regarding the adequate time for the exam accomplishment, which showed the delay of the treatment start. The difficulties described by the professionals as to the adherence to the treatment by the caregivers were attributed not only to the problems showed by the Program structure itselfbut also by the lack of interest to it. The study brings relevant implications to the implantation of more effective and efficacious prevention programs to attend the needs of caregivers and promote the adequate child development.

    Adesão ao tratamento por cuidadores de crianças e adolescentes soropositivos para o HIV

    This study aimed to investigate the pattern of adherence of caregivers of HIV seropositive children and adolescents and to identify the coping strategies against the stressors of seropositivity. The 30 caregivers that participated in the study responded to a semi-structured interview and a scale of how to cope with problems. A clinical record was used as a secondary data source. The caregivers were classified in an adhesion group (n=25) and non-adhesion group (n=5), based on their behavior related to the use of antiretroviral medicaments and other criteria. No significant differences were found in coping strategies between the groups, except in the strategy based on religiosity/fantasy thinking. The results provide a basis for interventions aimed at reducing psychosocial impacts of HIV.

    O caminho trilhado por usuários de um Centro de Atenção Psicossocial do Estado do Pará: construindo itinerários na busca do cuidado

    This paper aimed to know and understand the paths taken by users of a Psychosocial Care Centre of Pará state. The method used was qualitative, discursive and ethnographic. A total of 14 registered users were participants in this study. Interviews were analyzed according to the categories emerged from interviewed speeches and their sense of productions about therapeutic itineraries, which were: trajectory assistance care; access to health services; religiosity and mental health; users and their search for assistance when they are in distress. The therapeutic itineraries chosen by the users took in account aspects related to sociocultural context which they were involved, using the resources and strategies related to their own access in a formal health network service, as well as the relevant resources, religiosity and support offered by family and friends.

    Cartilha “Aprendendo melhor a cuidar de si” para o autocuidado do cuidador de adoecidos pelo câncer

    The objective of this study was to apply the booklet “Learning better to take care of yourself” to family caregivers of people sick with cancer in palliative oncology care, as well as to investigate the burden on family caregivers and to analyze the correlation between the booklet “Learning better to take care of themselves” with the burden of these family caregivers. This is a descriptive study with a quantitative approach, carried out at the Ophir Loyola Hospital Palliative Care Clinic, with 147 family caregivers, in the second half of 2020. For the collection, two instruments were used: (a). Form for the characterization of caregivers and appreciation of the booklet; (B). Zarit Overhead Scale Questionnaire - Burden Interview. The collected data were tabulated, interpreted, processed and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics in Microsoft Excel® 2019 spreadsheets, in order to consolidate the information related to the data collected. The built database was organized and analyzed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences software version 24.0 in Windows 10 environment, with the results presented in tables and discussed based on the scientific literature. As a result it was obtained in the sociodemographic data that the caregivers are children (67 – 45,6%), female (86 – 58,5%), living outside Belém or metropolitan region (85, 57.8%), have completed High School (63 – 42,9%), are married (74 – 50,3%), mostly housewives (57 – 38,8%) and self-employed (45 – 30,6%), Catholic (71 – 48,3%) and have no income (81 – 55,1%). The average age of caregivers is 40 years old. Being a caregiver was a family decision (65 – 44,2%), exercising full-time care (89 – 60,5%), within a period of 1 to 5 years (69 – 46,94%), and sharing care with someone (89 – 60,5%) usually the brother (58 – 39,5%). The educational technology, the booklet 'Learning better to take care of yourself', achieved 91% acceptability. Regarding the general burden of caregivers, the majority presented Moderate to Severe burden (104 – 70,7%) and there was insufficient evidence to conclude that any of the variable’s gender, age group, health problems or length of care have any statistically relevant relationship with Zarit score (p > 0,05). As a conclusion, the booklet 'Learning better to take care of yourself', obtained 91% acceptability from family caregivers, who presented moderate to severe overload; Through the analyses, it was demonstrated that the acceptance of the booklet has a weak and inverse correlation with the burden, that is, the greater the acceptance of the booklet, the lower the burden presented by the family caregiver (alternative hypothesis - H1) and the burden will not be underwent statistically significant influence of the variables gender, age group, health problems or length of care, in this specific public (null hypothesis - H0). From the scores obtained in the question “do you have a health problem”, pain on the coast and use of alcoholic beverages did not show statistically significant differences. Although the other problems and habits were statistically significant. The Booklet, as an educational technology, strengthens and subsidizes the nursing care practice, legitimizing the continuity of the walk directed towards the new future care perspectives.

    The present study aimed to understand how caregivers, parents and/or guardians, understand emotional development in the context of movement of children. Therefore, the research resorted to psychodynamic theory about emotional development, caregiver (s) and movement of children. We used the qualitative method in order to capture data and information about the studied phenomenon in its uniqueness (MINAYO, 2010). The interdisciplinary dimension of this study, based on the union of anthropological and psychological concepts, raised the need to use more of a methodology to answer the research problem and achieve your goal. Thus, it was used for data collection to semistructured interview with a couple of parents and/or guardians of five children regularly enrolled in the first year of elementary school, and the teacher responsible for that class. There was a focus group with parents and/or guardians, and the observation of a day for each child. Content analysis was used to evaluate qualitatively the responses of the interviews, and analyze the verbal material (FRANCO, 2007). It was used also ecomap and a bias perspective proposed by Mauss (2001), which helped the mounting social network (BOTT, 1976) and participant observation with journaling field and subsequent analysis, to help identify and interpret the phenomena under study. We conclude that emotional development is anchored today in a movement of children watched with close-knit networks with few relationships possible without the assignment of responsibilities. Being in care then feel suffocated therefore caregivers start to demand extra care of themselves that make them poor and needy listening because the ban generates fear and anguish, anxiety and aggressiveness future. Thus, one must expand and invest in research which seize the movement of children as a way to investigate how it is developing emotionally today to reduce future psychiatric disorders and assist caregivers of children.

    Concepções de desenvolvimento e práticas de cuidado à criança em ambiente de abrigo na perspectiva do Nicho Desenvolvimental

    Psychology has engaged in researches with target in institutional care. This interest makes growing in the scientific field necessity of studies to take care about collective environments whereas Developmental of Niche, where the social and physical environment, care practices that are often used in daily routines, besides who use psychology for taking care should be understood from integrated and close way. This study has for the purpose of investigating social and physical environment aspects, knowledge and concepts about infant development, routines and care practices present among educators in institution for children. This study is compound for 100 educators (95% of the population) who are responsible for children daily care of the children referred to a child care space.The educators answered through an individual interview based and structured in Knowledge of Infant Development Inventory (KIDI), instrument consists of 75 questions, divided into four categories: care practices, health and safety, rules and acquisitions, and principles of development. In this sample, 10 educators were selected and they compound the observation sessions, having importance for care routines at institution, and main criterion about this choice was a selection based in the performance obtained by KIDI. Of all observational sessions were selected moments that each educator got involved in situations like baths, food, sleep and plays. Those situations were extracted episodes that show care practices and routine activities. The results showed the most of professionals are women (99%), more than 35 years old, and they have kids and high school finished, and also more than 24 months of experience like educator. The results of instrument application showed 66% of educators got about 66 questions right. Thus, outperformed the 50% of performance at all categories analyzed by instrument, however the best results were extracted in statements related to care practices (80%) and principles of development (68%). The scholar level has not showed like an important variable. In institutional routine was checked the institucional care counts on rules collection that are followed by educators and children, with schedules and determinate places. It was noticed that knowledge about infant development is a relevant variable for quality of interactions and cares offered to child. Could be identified educators change routine, change the social and physical environment and adapt their practices following the demand and structure of situation, looking for to promote their well-being, and especially children well-being, give them possibilities to chance their environment and make individual choices in agreement with their own necessities. Besides is offered to institucional care children many experiences can rescue children to their cultural community, especially in situations of play and sleep. The results found in this study show how are important knowing about institucional care like spaces as a Development of Niche. It keeps a mutual relation with environment, practices and psychology of educators. This way it can be put in debate the importance to understand about institutional care in many points of view, and therefore must be understood in its various dimensions.

    “Criança não deveria morrer”: significados atribuídos por profissionais de saúde ao paliar crianças em iminência de morte

    This study aims to understand the meanings attributed by professionals working in the pediatric ward on the care of children with no possibility of curing disease, hospitalized and dying process. The strategy was based on a qualitative approach, which is a method concerned with the peculiarities and particularities of an object, without the pretense of absolute truths or generalizations about the findings. The research was conducted in the Clinical Care Pediatric University Hospital João de Barros Barreto, linked to the Federal University of Pará in Belém-Pa. Collaborated with research twelve (12) Professional, 3 doctors, one psychologist, one occupational therapist, two nurses, one physiotherapist, one social worker and 3 Nursing Technicians who deal daily with the process of dying children admitted in this institution. As an instrument for data collection was used to semi-directed, and performed the thematic content analysis, by identifying three central themes: The Denial of Death and Prohibition; Addictions and Bereavement Experience and Training remedy. To alleviate employees is an arduous task involving carefully targeted to children without curative therapeutic possibilities. However, unable to prevent the death of the child professionals can experience intense suffering, which favors obstinate actions for sustaining life, denial and interdiction of death. As parents attached and caring for their children, on the verge of death or death of the child, the typical professional experience feelings of grief. Regarding the training of health professionals highlights the absence of disciplines addressing the topic of death and dying during the years of graduation, calling attention to the need to include these in the undergraduate curriculum. The findings suggest the strangeness front of the child's death and the experience of mourning unauthorized, supporting actions in favor of education for life and death.

    Dinâmica da família no contexto dos cuidados a adultos na quarta idade

    This study aimed to determine the pattern of family functioning on everyday care relationships of adults in the fourth age. This is a study of diagnostic-evaluative nature of adults with 80 or more years old who depend on care, and of their relatives as caregivers. The participants were selected among the registered patients of a Family Health Unit in a district in the suburbs of Belém-PA, Brazil. They were evaluated according to the dynamics of their family, and quality of life related health lifestyle. Most of the elderly rated their families with good functionality. However, data on the elderly and caregivers' quality of life and caregivers' life style only reached the median level, showing some difficulty in the family functioning system. It was concluded that the multiple results obtained through the assessments indicate some practical implications of care to the family unity and confirm the need for multidimensional assessment about the family intervention.

    Efeito de instruções e de treino parental sobre comportamentos observados em cuidadores e em crianças com câncer durante sessão de punção venosa para quimioterapia ambulatorial

    Recurrent invasive procedures in children’s cancer treatment have appeared to be the moment of greatest suffering for both the patient and the caregiver. During these procedures, as in venipuncture, a great deal of children present reactions characterized as behavioral distress. Behavioral interventions have been developed in order to reduce distress, being possible to have the children’s own caregivers as agents. This study aimed to analyze the effects of instruction and parental training on behaviors observed in caregivers and children diagnosed with cancer during venipuncture procedure in an outpatient clinic. Nine caregivers of children undergoing chemotherapy in a specialized hospital in Belém – PA were selected. For data collection the following questionnaires were used: An interview form, a Sociodemographic Questionnaire, the Parental Bonding Instrument (PBI), the Child Behavior Checklist (CBLC), the Child’s and Caregiver’s Behavior Direct Observation Protocol, the Behavioral Assessment Scale, a caregiver orientation manual for venipuncture in children and the Parental Training Protocol. Participants underwent one of three conditions: (1) Routine, (2) Orientation Manual, or (3) Parental Training. Data collection was performed through interviews and four behavior direct observation sessions. The children’s behaviors were classified as concurrent and non-concurrent. The caregivers’ behaviors were classified as positive monitoring, negative monitoring and negligence. The results suggest that, in the Routine Condition, caregivers did not vary their behavior during the sessions, with two participants maintaining a high frequency of negligent behaviors and one participant maintaining a positive monitoring. In the Manual Condition, a change in two caregivers’ behavior was observed as an immediate effect of the manual usage, but not in the long term. In the third Condition, in which the caregivers were submitted to the Parental Training Protocol, an increase in the frequency of positive monitoring was observed in the short and long term. Regarding the children, the results indicated a higher frequency of non-concurrent behaviors, regardless of the condition to which the caregiver was submitted. Most caregivers were classified in the PBI with a permissive parenting style, confirming the literature on caregivers of children with chronic diseases. There have been reports of trained skills generalization to settings outside the hospital. It is concluded that the manual use increased venipuncture knowledge acquisition but not enough for the change and maintenance of behaviors (in long term). On the other side, parental training was effective in changing behavior as well as developing new social skills. The importance of parenting style as a protective factor for children with cancer is discussed.

    Efeitos do treino de cuidadores sobre comportamentos de apoio à adesão às orientações nutricionais por portadores de diabetes

    Health studies have pointed out that social support is one of the factors related to the adherence to diabetes patients treatment. Based on behavior analysis reference and especially on Goldiamonds constructional approach this study aimed to evaluate the effects of training procedure on caregivers support behavior offered to adult patients feeding behavior. Further, it was intended to analyze effects of this training on the patients adherence to dietary prescription. Taking part on this study were three women enrolled in a program for diabetes patients and one family member of each patient, amounting to three caregiver-patient dyads, two of which were allocated on a Training Condition (TC) and one, on a Non-Training Condition (NTC). As information sources, one used the verbal reports of the patients and of the caregivers, direct observation of behavioral interaction and clinical indicators. Using the subject as its own control, the intervention consisted on the training in contingency analysis and behavioral handling, accomplished in home visits by means of self monitoring records. The results showed that caregivers who took part on the Training Condition presented enlargement on the support behavior repertoire, which was not verified regarding the caregiver who took part on the Non-Training Condition. The glycemic levels reduction and the reports presented by the Training Condition patients suggest that the intervention has contributed to improvements on the adherence to nutritional orientations by theses patients.

    Entre o lar e a creche: observação de um bebê através do método Bick

    The purpose of this research was to investigate from a case study with Bick observation method the relationship between a baby and her caregivers at home and at care day center over a period of four months. The theoretical used was psychoanalysis specifically based on researchers‟ proposals of human development such as Leibovic, Stern, Spitz, Winnicott and Mahler, who are in agreement that the link between a mother and her child is essential to the baby‟s psychic development. This work used qualitative method through a case study conducted and analyzed by the baby observation method Bick in the familiar environment, as well as adapted in an institutional location: the care day center. In this version of the method, the postpartum period was not observed because the baby started to be observed at the care day center when he was seven months. Speaking of observation time, the original method indicates the duration of two years, but in this work this period was reduced to four months. Such adjustment was necessary since the research is linked to Programa de Pós-Graduação em Psicologia at Universidade Federal do Pará therefore period and conclusion of activities were pre-established and not compatible with Bick‟s proposal. The collected data was analyzed in the following categories: Clarice and her emotional development, The care of Clarice: The home and day care and clarified Clarice. Also, the observer‟s feelings were analyzed during the observation. The care day center performed a caution context which supplemented the one offered by the baby‟s family, filling some gaps even with the presence of work routine. In familiar context, the mother was able to take care of her child, offering her an affective environment despite all the difficulty of her life. During the observations, the baby developed healthily enhanced by the complexity of its relationships.

    Estudo do "Ages and Stages Questionnaires" com cuidadores de crianças institucionalizadas

    This study discussed the knowledge caretakers have on the development of children who live in institutional shelter, using a triage instrument. Took part of this study four five-year old children and the caretakers. The Ages and Stages Questionnaires were used, they are composed by 21 questionnaires which comprise six areas of development. The results demonstrated that communication was an area poorly scored by the children, their main difficulties are in verbalizing and focusing on the proposed task. The gross motor coordination field which gathers among other things jumping and running, all motivated by the environment of the institution, fit the expectations, hence received the maximum score according to ASQ-3. The caretakers, considered key people for the children, were essential for the application of ASQ-3, which had a major role in identifying developmental problems.

    Objective: To evaluate the family functioning of Brazilian elderly people and test how determining factors influence it. Methods: Cross-sectional study with 2,052 elderly people based on data collected in the baseline of the study Aging, gender and quality of life (AGEQOL), with participants answering questionnaires about family dynamics, basic and instrumental activities of daily living (ADL and IADL), cognitive state and sociodemographic characteristics. Multivariate ordinal regression models and multiple correspondence analysis identified factors associated with good family functioning. Results: Most elderly people had good family functioning (76.3%), were married and lived with their spouse (55.5%), had more than six children and grandchildren (85.4% and 76.7%, respectively) and were independent to perform IADL (71.5%). Correspondence analysis resulted in three groups: good, moderate and poor family functioning, and a profile of elderly people with different socioeconomic conditions. Conclusion: It was possible to infer implications for practices and policies of family care with elderly members to meet their specific routine and life and health conditions.

    Implementação da estratégia de ensino-aprendizagem à família de paciente crônico

    This study aims at implementing the teaching-learning strategy for families of patients in chronic conditions. It considers the importance of evaluating the needs and abilities of family members in order to prepare them to manage that situation appropriately, as well as to be able to provide adequate home care. A diagnostic evaluation of a family member/caretaker was conducted during the hospitalization of a patient with congestive cardiac insufficiency. During the diagnosis "knowledge deficit" was identified. Thus, a teaching plan was elaborated for such caretaker with the purpose of preparing him/her for home care. During implementation, formative evaluations were conducted with the purpose of learning about the efficacy of the strategies employed and the summative in the patient's home. The importance of nurses' resorting to the teaching-learning strategy in order to guide the family member/caretaker in the process of caring for people with chronic conditions was certified. The aim is promoting life, in spite of the disease, since the quality of such care will prevent aggravating recurrence and consequent re-hospitalizations.

    Intervention in autism: social engagement implemented by caregivers

    To become involved in states of social engagement with their caregivers is a core deficit of children with autism. This study verified the effectiveness of an intervention with caregivers for the promotion of social engagement in their children with autism. The interactions of seven dyads were video recorded before, during and after the intervention in order to record the duration of eleven states of the children’ attention engagement, coded as social engagement (SE) or non-social engagement (NSE). Eight hours of intervention were divided into meetings with all the caregivers and into individualized monitoring. After the intervention, significant differences were observed regarding the increase of SE and in the decrease of NSE and these gains were maintained at follow-up. The increase in SE was positively associated with the degree of caregivers’ adherence to the treatment. We conclude that short duration interventions can qualify caregivers as competent mediators to increase social engagements.

    Based on the concept of socialization as a process of cultural transmission that involves the sharing of rules, values and parental beliefs, the present dissertation, based on the Ecocultural Model of Human Development, aimed to analyse and compare the participants’ emotion socialization goals and socialization strategies of emotion. 66 caregivers (mothers and fathers) participated of this research. They were from fishing-extractivist villages in the city of Bragança-PA, at the Mesoregion of the Northeast of Pará, and from agricultural villages in the city of Castanhal-PA, at the Metropolitan Mesoregion of Belém. Data were collected using the Participant Identification Form (PIF), the Sociodemographic Data Form (SDDF) and the Emotion Socialization Goals Questionnaire (ESGQ). Firstly, the results referring to the fishingextractivist villages, an unprecedented context of investigation, were described and soon after, the data related to the comparison between the fishing-extractivist villages of Bragança and the agricultural villages of Castanhal were described. Initially, it was found that in the emotion socialization goals of the caretakers in fishing villages predominated evocations of the category 'automaximization' (63.64%), followed by those referring to the category 'emotionality' (19.83%). About the conditions for children's development, caregivers responded mostly to evocations referring to the category 'caregiver-centered' (37.70%). In relation to what caregivers believed it was possible for them to do about the characteristics aimed, the emotion strategies, evocations of the category 'educating/guiding' predominated (56.92%). In the comparison between the two research contexts, emotion socialization goals in the ‘automaximization’ category predominated in both and in the the application of the Chi-square Test of Independence showed a significant association (p = 0.0021) between this category and the researched contexts, with emphasis on the caregivers from the fishing and extractive villages of Bragança that showed a higher frequency of responses in this category than those of the agricultural villages of Castanhal. Answers represented by the 'caregiver-centered' category also predominated in the two research contexts, but with no significant difference from the central categories in the comparison between the two contexts, as suggested by the results obtained by the Chi-square Test of Independence and Fisher's Exact Test. As for the actions of the parents themselves so that the children have the targeted characteristics, the caregivers in the two contexts presented responses mostly referring to the category 'educate/advise', but with no significant association between this category and the contexts surveyed, according to the Chisquare Independence Test and Fisher's exact Test. These results suggest that caregivers socialize their children based on the construction of an autonomous-relational self, with a tendency to value autonomy in expressing emotions and making decisions related to them. In addition, it is also expected that the child prioritizes emotional expressions that contribute to the harmony of interpersonal relationships and emotional interdependence in relation to the family, which the literature has shown to be a characteristic usually present in contexts that experience a process of transition from rural for the urban, with modernization of its economic and social structures.

    The concept of Development Niche consists of three subsystems: the physical and social environment, the psychology of caregivers and care practices. The present study aimed to apply the concept of Niche for the study of development in old age focusing on the care provided in Long Term Care Institution for Elderly (LTC), through environmental research, beliefs and knowledge of caregivers and care practices. The study was conducted in a Philanthropic LTC and was attended by five formal caregivers. The results indicate that the bathroom was the space that received more negative evaluations; In addition, we identified little interaction among older and no activities that encourage this practice; all caregivers are female, mean age 48.2 years and with low education; beliefs were neutral in general, especially in the domain that agency received more negative evaluations; the level of knowledge about old age was low and care practices, mostly involving childish treatment, devaluation of understanding of the elderly, threat of aggression etc. It follows that the subsystems of the concept of Development Niche can also be used to evaluate the development and care in LTC, since the presence of a poor environment stimulation, with caregivers who have negative beliefs about the independence of older and with few knowledge in gerontology may favor the emergence of inadequate care practices, making it difficult to maintain the functional capacity of the elderly.

    From the analysis of studies on mental health in adolescence can be considered as a relevant issue, because this age group, and establish itself as a large portion of people who need and do not seek care, is identified as a vulnerable age group and risk. So, do you need to think of more effective forms of intervention, considering the family context, cultural and social these individuals. The purpose of this study was to investigate conceptions of adolescents and their caregivers about health and mental illness, including stereotypes and accessibility to mental health services offered in the city of Belém-PA, as well as major networks of support and care strategies used by adolescents. The study included 60 adolescents of both sexes, and their caregivers. The teenagers were aged between 12 and 17 years, 30 students from public school located in a suburb, and 30 private school located in a neighborhood considered noble in Belem-Para The caregivers were female, with aged 25 to 57 years. Of the total sample of 60 adolescents were interviewed families of diverse family configuration through home visits. The instruments were used: field diary, interview script familiar script of an interview with the coordinators of the schools and self-reported questionnaires on health and mental illness. The questionnaire results were analyzed preferably by Chi-Square and G test for independent samples. All statistical processing was carried out in BioEstat software version 5.2. For the field diary and interview scripts used the content analysis. The results showed these two instruments and socioeconomic risk factors and protection of teenagers in the family. The questionnaire results showed that perceptions of public school students about mental health were associated with not be as sensitive / fragile and think positive, be optimistic. While in private school was associated with balanced feel and be very important. As the conceptions of mental illness in the public school was related to when the body is not good and professional advise when a treatment in the private school was injured and have feelings is not something you notice right away. Regarding the origin of ideas there was no real difference between the groups. Regarding religion, there was disagreement only with respect to cure mental illness. As a coping strategy was associated in the public school to speak to someone about the problem while in the private school did not seek help. The mother was identified as the principal for help in public school, private school in the main reference was the family doctor. The main barrier to public school students access to mental health service was not knowing what the psychologist / psychiatrist will do with it, and in the private school was not wanting to be taken / mocked. In both groups the main problems were reported mental health problems in school and behavior. The private school adolescents responded that they only sometimes feel alone and happy, while in the public schools have always been in good spirits and satisfied with life.
