Under what conditions did the civil-military dictatorship hand Belém do Pará over to the period of redemocratization? How did the civil society react to the violence and exclusion of dictatorial policies? These two questions permeate this study, which aims to decipher the situation of the main capital of the Amazon at the time, in the last seven years of the military government, a so-called period of openness, but which, despite suggesting a political softening, carried on with the signs of authoritarianism that characterized the 21 years of the regime. Based on Biratan Porto's cartoons, this study aims to answer those questions, using the methodological tools of the Social History of Art. Forty years after the events, the artist's critical humor offers an alternative reading to the press, which at the time was committed to the dictatorship. In its analytical framework of that period, Biratan's cartoon projects a unique perspective on popular resistance and suggests replacing an authoritarian clientelism with another, democratic, but still clientelism.

The present article is a theoretical study about the permanence and spread processes in the social body, regarding the security policies, of the elements that were forged in the long history of our Brazilian territory, from the time of the colonial invasion, emphasizing the contradictions in the military-business dictatorship, and the contradiction between the militarization of the social question and the struggle for the guarantee of human rights today. From the reflections of critical or radical criminology and the analysis of the role of sciences in a materialist-historical and dialectical perspective, this study sought to highlight the processes of construction of the figure of the internal enemy today qualified as “delinquent”, as well as the unfolding of the constitution of processes of criminalization in certain modes of sociability and subjectivities. In this sense, it is understood that psychology, as a science and profession, has the task of positioning itself before the expressions of social inequality, seeking to unveil the historical determinations and the relation with the totality from which emerge such contexts.

As raízes discursivas da intervenção militar na Amazônia

This article aims to compare the attempts of the military dictatorship in the Amazon and the discourses of the early stages of colonization in the region. It is understood that a fundamental part of the archaeological method is the construction of the image archive with certain knowledge relates. Thus, the military rationality that has the Amazonian issue at its core will be investigated in the light of the discourses presented during the first contacts of Europeans with the region. Emphasis will be given to the records of the first conquerors, as well as those who went to the Amazon in the eighteenth century, the so-called naturalistic travelers. Having some of these historical accounts, some comparisons will be made with what the military dictatorship postulates throughout the 1960s and 1980s. The purpose is to compose the roots of derivation of the discourse established by the military to support their policies; point out their references and accuse the dialogue they establish with other historicities.

Sexualidades dissidentes em prosa: as representações das homossexualidades masculinas e das travestis na década de 1970 nos jornais de Belém/PA

The civil-military coup took place in 1964, and it would last until mid-1985, the year which would mark the beginning of a series of social, political, cultural and economic changes. During this period, more specifically in the 70's, homosexuality would rise to a prominent place, not only in Brazil but in the entire world. The gay power movement and the Sexual Revolution would bring to light an entire generation which was tired of hiding and denying its own desires. In this context, Belém was also a stage for great changes. The "Mainstream Media" supported the military regime and all of its "morality". On the other hand, however, Belém's youth was breaking free from its shackles and looking for ways to have their voice heard by society, either through attempts to organize themselves politically or through spaces of sociability. Homosexuality and transvestites were not invisible and these subjects were not willing to remain on the margins of society. With that said, this work seeks to comprehend what was the place of Gay Men and Transvestites in this society going through so many transformations and how these people were portrayed in the journalistic discourses about dissident sexualities made by the mainstream media (A Província do Pará, Folha do Norte/Folha Vespertina e O Liberal) in the 70's. For this, in addition to the newspapers, I conducted interviews with interlocutors who lived the period and all these changes mentioned, broadening my understanding of the dynamics of the period, the sociability, the spaces, the social political movement, the daily practices, behaviors and representations related to homosexuals and transvestites.
