Comunidad negra de Itacoã: territorio, biodiversidad y organización social, pilares para el etnodesarrollo?
(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2005-03-22) SCOLES CANO, Ricardo; ACEVEDO MARIN, Rosa Elizabeth; http://lattes.cnpq.br/0087693866786684
This research analyses and argues the possibilities and limitations of ethno-development in the black community of Itacoã from the study of its sustainability pillars: land, biodiversity and social organization. It should be taken into account that this village, located in the region of “Baixo Acará”, is undergoing a process of transformation of its productive activities due to a big demand of economic incomes from its families. Therefore, the use and management of the natural resources, the geographical closeness to the city of Belem do Para, and the internal management ability have all contributed as positive factors to improve the living conditions of the local population. However, the high rate of population compared to the geographical extension, the underground level of most social services and the seasonal difficulties to get some wages have all become obstacles to carry out rural development practices. It is also worth mentioning the preservation of the diversity of medicine and fruit plants in the area of research, as a result of the traditional agro forest management and the contradictions derived from the relations among the different families in the village and among them and the institutions involved, both state and private ones.

(Universidade Federal do Paraná, 2021) PARENTE, Francilene de Aguiar; MILÉO, Irlanda do Socorro de Oliveira
This article analyzes how the Ethnodevelopment course offered by the Universidade Federal do Pará [Federal University of Pará]/Altamira University Campus has contributed to the academic, political and professional training of students belonging to indigenous peoples and traditional communities in the context of the Amazon. It provides a descriptive-analytical approach to their experiences, starting with the process of the creation and organization of the course, based on affirmative public policies undertaken in Brazil, as well the course methodology and the challenges faced for the course to be implemented in the light of institutional issues. The reflections put forward show that the Ethnodevelopment course has contributed to expanding possibilities of action and political negotiation by these social agents based on their spaces of collective belonging, as well contributing to differentiated training that enables and instrumentalizes their inclusion as professionals in the field of education in the different territories of the Amazon region.

Educação superior em etnodesenvolvimento, movimenos indígenas e agência da diferença étnica em Altamira/PA
(Universidade Federal de Sergipe, 2014-12) PARENTE, Francilene de Aguiar
This article discusses the experience of indigenous of Xypaia and Kuruaya ethnicities of the Xingu region to undergraduate degree in Ethnodevelopment of the Federal University of Pará (UFPA) and allows theoretical tools for identity reassurance in a context considered adverse and homogenizing, valuing relations with local indigenous movements. From written accounts and testimonies, it’s seen the growth of the indigenous community access to affirmative policies, noting a higher number of women belonging to the two already mentioned indigenous ethnic groups, what demonstrates a permission of the reintegration of younger members in organized indigenous movements and the stimulation of these to fight for the prestige of their identity, by the agency of their culture and for recognition of their ethnicity.

The theory of ethnodevelopment can be used as a governance guideline for the territorial management of spaces where there are traditional peoples and/or communities, with the main aim of treating the culture of these populations as a fundamental input for their development, respecting, protecting and maintaining the managerial autonomy of such communities. It is defended that traditional knowledge must be used for the benefit of the people who hold it, and that should occurs through direction and advice by the State. For this guideline to be used efficiently, it is necessary to carry out a plan, strategically listing how such management can be carried out. In this perspective, this study presents the management of the Intellectual Property of these peoples as an effective instrument for the application of the main pillar of ethnodevelopment, that is the observance and use of traditional culture fundamentally for the benefit of the local development of the territory where such peoples and traditional communities inhabit. It is demonstrated how such direction presents itself as a true historical reparation with regard to the history of Brazil in relation to the treatment of the original cultures and those coming from the African continent, as well as listing, in detail, the legal content that underlies the use of ethnodevelopment in territories where traditional peoples and communities are found. It also explains how the Intellectual Property tools present in Brazilian legislation can be used for this purpose. From this perspective, the field research carried out in two communities of the Marajó archipelago, located in the immediate Soure-Salvaterra region, is approached, demonstrating, based on verified facts, how this Intellectual Property management can be beneficial for the Marajoara region, and, consequently, to the Amazon region. Finally, the results of this research are presented, demonstrating which are the potential products based on traditional Marajoara knowledge that have marketing strength from the application of Intellectual Property management. It is concluded that there is a latent need for public policies that use Intellectual Property legislation in favor of the local development of traditional peoples and communities, as demonstrated in the Marajoara localities in the present research studied, strengthening this statement based on the entire national legal framework relating to the matter. Finally, a little atlas of the studied region is presented with all the cartography elaborated especially for this academic work.
