(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2018) SANTOS, André Thiago Lemos Miranda dos; VILHENA, Karyme do Socorro de Souza; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3071495983880548
The objective of this study is to carry out a survey of the socio-environmental influence of the users of the Murucupi River Basin, focusing on the buses of the company that uses the basin, located in the municipality of Barcarena in the State of Pará, Brazil. taking into account the multiple uses of soil and water.. The research considers multiples land uses, as well as the impacts caused by the tailings pond. For this assessment, Temporary Geographic Information Systems (TGIS) maps were applied using for the period of 1986 to 2017 data from USGS mapping and for the period of 2004 to 2014 data from TerraClass project mapping. Through this database, the impacts arising from the multiple uses of natural resources and socioenvironmental degradation observed in Barcarena were measured. Changes in land use were obtained through the State Department of Environment and Sustainability-SEMAS and IBGE data. The technical-scientific data were correlated to the socioenvironmental degradation maps in order to determine the socioenvironmental pressure caused by the installation the Imerys’ tailings pond in the study area. In addition to exposing the negative perception of the population in relation to the dam companies, through the application of online forms.

According to Xavier (2006), the knowledge of the African civilizing presence in the cultural horizons of global societies can be done through the study of their religious complexes, among the other forms of reconstruction of Afrodescendant territorialities. In the scenario of religious intolerance that we live in today in our society, it is of paramount importance to bring to academia and society knowledge that can combat such practices. Thus, the Afro-religiosity Umbanda became the object of study of our research, which was carried out within an interpretative qualitative approach, making use of some ethnographic instruments such as observation, collection of oral narratives and application of semi-structured questionnaires. We propose to research the genealogical history of Umbanda domain Nanã Buruquê and the "Terreiro of Century XIX", and its interfaces with anthropologization, based on an interdisciplinary perspective, because it believes that this is a sociocultural element of fundamental importance for the maintenance and positive visibility for the practices of Umbanda in the municipality of Castanhal, Pará, Brazil. We start from the following problem: How does anthropization occur within the terraces of umbanda and what are the impacts of this relationship on the socio-environmental environment from an interdisciplinary perspective? What generated the following hypotheses: if anthropization is considered an intervention of man on the environment, both environmental and social, there is some kind of anthropization within the terraces of Umbanda, which already carries within its genesis an interdisciplinary character because it is the result of "syncretism" with other religious matrices. The work has as general objective to identify the relations of anthropization within two terraces of umbanda and their possible impacts on the socio-environmental environment, from an interdisciplinary perspective. We made contributions with Coelho (2001), Leff (2004), Bertrand (1971; 2007), Elissalde (2009), Bastide (1971), Durkheim (2006), Geert (2009), Campelo (2003), Amaral (2014), among others. The research revealed the following data: the relationship of anthropization within the terraces is based on orality, transmitting environmental Afro-religious values, in an interdisciplinary way based on the modus operandi of the daily routine of the Umbanda domain, in which each subject is responsible for its integration into the environment, both with regard to religiosity and the environment. The types of anthropization found in the terraces were environmental, religious, mystical and mythological. The impacts caused by the presence of the yard in the social environment of the city are characterized in the field of the provision of assistance, collective, community and solidarity services.

Atuação jurisdicional e proteção ambiental no Pará
(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2008) SANTANA, Raimundo Rodrigues; MATTOS NETO, Antonio José de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4719479439779242
This study examines the role of judicial powers in the state of Para in addressing the issues concerning the major impacts socio-environmental considered not just those who cause harm strictly ecological but also social in nature. From the study of emblematic cases, chosen because they represent situations of socioenvironmental bias, we measured the relation between the judicial role and model of economic development based on intensive exploitation of natural resources, but susceptible sequels with ecological and social. The findings suggest that in benchmarking of emblematic cases, the legal arguments tied to notions of socioeconomic development in the orbit of the courts, have been approved with precedence over environmental protection, in spite of being very well defined the landmarks law to regulate activities human cause of major environmental impacts.

The construction and operation of Hydroelectric Tucuruí transformed the natural landscape and fostered profound changes in socio-economics of the Middle-Tocantins. The implementation of the project was not preceded by Environmental Impact Assessments, as is now required from 1981 (Law 6938/81). The mitigation of environmental and social impacts was in charge of an Environmental Action Plan, consisting of 14 programs, specific to each segment changed or degraded by natural development. In 2002, in a process of collective discussion between government and society, approved the creation of Mosaic of Conservation of Lake Tucuruí. The expectation of the affected population, with the environmental planning area, was related to guarantees and rights and collective inviduais, housing, work and better public access to essential services. In 2002, the power utility has raised the water depth of Lake Tucuruí quota of 72m to 74m elevation, causing further environmental and social impacts on the population residing in the banks and islands, and especially for purposes of this study, RDS Alcobaça. These populations were compensated by the existing improvements in the range of flooding, but other socio-environmental impacts that would manifest itself progressively from new hydrologic cycles were relativisados by the entrepreneur, depositing in the Environmental Action Plan capacity respond to new changes in the environment and mitigate the socio-environmental ones. Studies within the RDS Alcobaça confirmed the existence of new impacts due to the lifting of the quota and the low efficiency of Environmental Action Plan as a tool for mitigating the environmental and social impacts.

Socio-environmental impacts are changes suffered by the environment caused by actions that have a direct influence on the quality of life of populations. These aspects can be seen in the Serra do Piriá region, located in the municipality of Viseu-PA, where among the various activities we highlight mineral exploration that led to sudden changes in the landscapes, with impacts being identified, such as: deforestation, soil destruction, fires , among others. The objective is to analyze the socio-environmental impacts in six communities surrounding the Serra do Piriá, which were directly affected by human activities (mining, livestock farming, animal and plant extractivism) and their consequences related to the communities' appropriation of natural resources. The methodology is based on the assumptions of environmental analysis with a view to Landscape Geoecology to analyze the socio-environmental impacts that will serve as a framework for understanding socio-environmental phenomena. Seven geoecological units were delimited in the study area, and of these, three (UG1) Plateau with Capoeira Vegetation, (UG3) Foothill with Secondary Vegetation and (UG4) Plain Interspersed with Ombrophylous and Capoeira Vegetation presented very critical states, two units (UG5) Hills with Patches of Dense Ombrophyllous Vegetation and Riparian Forest, (UG7) Rivers and Nature Fields presented critical states, one (UG2) Slope with Cavities and Fragments of Primary Vegetation presented an unstable state and finally, one (UG6) Fluviomarinha Plain with Maguezal presented a stable state. The study pointed out that human activities are distorting the landscapes, making it necessary to implement conservation and preservation actions for the landscapes in question.

Mining in the Stateof Pará occupies a prominent position in the regional and national economies. Although it is installed and operating in compliance with the due process of environmental licensing, mining activity of great degradation potential has been causing environmental disasters and social problems. This work analyzes the polluting events occurring in the period from 2004 to 2016, due to the leakage of tailings and kaolin ore bodies in the Dendê river, Curuperé and Maricá streams, to the Marajó Bay, and the influence of precipitation on the activity of kaolin processing and its social and environmental impacts. The research was based on reports of Police investigations in the Specialized Division of the Environmentof the Civil Police of Pará, expert reports of the Institute of Criminology of the Center for Scientific Expertise Renato Chaves, reports of the Evandro Chagas Institute of the Ministry of Health and the Laboratory of Analytical and Environmental Chemistry of the UFPA, in which authors and materiality were identified, the communities and water bodies affected and the social and environmental impacts resulting from the polluting events. From a descriptive and analytical approach of these events, the socio-environmental impacts were identified, the accelerated growth of the urban population from the installation of the industrial enterprises; the constant damages in the riverside communities located around the mining company; the expansion of areas of environmental risk with the expansion of mining activity in the region and the successive pollution of water resources.

As influências socioeconômicas e ambientais da cadeia produtiva do dendê no desenvolvimento local do baixo Tocantins
(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2016-04-08) FERREIRA, Vanilda Araújo; SANTANA, Antônio Cordeiro de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/2532279040491194
This paper investigates the social, economic and environmental influences of the "palm oil agrobusiness" in the dynamics of the local development of “Baixo Tocantins”. According to the strategic nature of the research, the method used was the quali-quantitative type, from the perception of integrated local agents of the chain production. We conducted interviews and collected secondary data in order to identify, analyze and interpret the factors of socioeconomic and environmental impacts and externalities which are configuring people’s quality of life. The results showed that the introduction of the chain production of palm oil in “Baixo Tocantins”, with monoculture features, is producing a wave of negative socioeconomic and environmental effects in the form of vertical integration of production. The family rural worker has become a kind of “employee outsourced “of the company, through a contractual relationship in which the absence of participatory decision-making mechanisms shows that the power structure and the forces that determine the governance of the chain production of palm oil are controlled in a unilateral way by Agropalma. This process is supported by the weakness of the social organization of these workers in the surveyed communities, reflecting the low level of awareness among farmers about the importance of social organization as a tool for empowering these social subjects. This environment neither allows local communities to accumulate enough capital, nor enjoys good quality of life, with a guarantee of substantive freedoms and appropriate environmental conditions that can induce endogenously, a dynamic path of local development. It is expected through this search a contribution to deepen the discussion about the implementation of public policies in rural areas, particularly those related to the expansion of palm oil culture as one of the possibilities to recover deforested areas and promote regional development, based on integration between agribusiness and small family rural worker in Para state.

Globalization spurred the transformation of locations from their strengths and identities, boosting the socioeconomic, political-institutional and environmental changes in relation to the spaces and natural resources provided to man. Thus, this thesis aims to expose and analyze the results on the perception of the residents of San Leandro communities, Wood Seat and Arm Grande regarding the changes from the extraction of limestone in the Pool B-17 Cement Factory of Brazil S/A (CIBRASA) in Capanema County (PA). However, the research is in a case study and the method of interpretation of analysis used was the Inductive Method, in which we held the questionnaires and open interviews, using the perspective of qualitative analysis and quantitative secondarily. Therefore, from the research spot was found that the relationship between neighborhood CIBRASA and characterized from a contradictory reality in which one side has the factory with the extraction of limestone and cement production, and on the other, the neighboring communities of B-17 with his family farming, living with the pollution effect of the extraction of limestone, which can impact the ecosystem of the region, its productions and inhabitants. The performance of CIBRASA generated changes in the living conditions of the population and the economic development of the city through the generation of employment and income for the population, because the neighborhood does not include the Pool B-17 does not realize any investment money economic and social from the generation of employment, income, improvement of basic sanitation, education, transportation, health and safety arising after the start of mining in the Pool B-17, thus emphasizing the lack of dialogue and inter-relationship between CIBRASA the Government and the neighborhood.

Pequenas barragens: uma oportunidade de desenvolvimento científico, técnico e regulamentador
(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2018-02-19) NAVA, Francy Rosy; PINTO, Andreia Cristina Brito; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3743402063049504; ISHIHARA, Júnior Hiroyuki; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3498874642887006
Although small water track dams have important and various purposes, even if they are smaller they are structures that causes considerable socio-environmental changes and represent increasingly evident risks. These terms are not considered by normative directives established in Brazil. That is why the regulatory system has been stimulated by strong discussions in analysis on advantages and disadvantages of the dams, only directed towards the great enterprises. Thus, a gap has been created, which substantiates and directs this study in the sense that the small water dams also deserves attention. To prove this need, this research was guided by the following scientific questions: 1. How the occurrence of small dams are addressed in scientific and technical environment? 2. What is the representativeness of the impacts events associated with the construction / operation of small dams? 3. How does the legal and institutional system incorporate the management of small dams? In order to answer them, a methodological route was established, allowing the purpose to analyzing small water track barriers in the Uraim river basin under the perspective of territorial and socio-environmental management and normative systems. The results demonstrated several weaknesses in scientific and technical knowledge, as well as in the normative and institutional ordering responsible for the environmental management of structures with polluting / degrading potential. The weakness found, whether in licensing or safety aspects are the main factors that drive the practice of establishing small irregular barriers in water tracks, disregarding technical and environmental criteria. It was also verified the representativeness of small dams and the significant socio-environmental risks. In this way, this study contributes to in-depth understanding of the roles of all actors responsible for the management of small dams. In addition, stimulates discussion on the performance of normative and institutional planning in promoting the efficient implementation of the environmental policies established by the government. These results can be used by policymakers and government decision-makers to improve the regulatory framework and executor role.

Políticas empresariais “sociais” implementadas em comunidades atingidas por projetos minerometalúrgicos no estado do Pará
(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2016-09-18) RODRIGUES, Giselle Viegas Dantas; MATHIS, Adriana de Azevedo; http://lattes.cnpq.br/4097998262711403
This research aims to analyze the “social” corporate policies implemented in communities affected by mining-metallurgical projects. Its main objective is to identify how policies are structured, what communication strategies are used, and what are the socio-environmental impacts caused in affected communities. Critical social theory was used to analyze the data and information obtained, which involved mining companies from the three mesoregions that make up the state of Pará. In the empirical research, representatives of communities, government, corporate companies and private organizations were interviewed using the following methodological tools: on-site observation/interviews, field diary, writing and transcription of interviews, analysis and systematization of interviews, and essay writing. The main results of the research indicate that the "socially responsible" stance affirmed by the corporate companies is based on the need to create consensuses in the communities, to reduce local poverty and to establish the legitimacy of the company over the territory; and also that strategic communication methodologies have influenced the way of thinking and acting of those affected by the mining and the professionals involved, due to the existence of life conditions materialized in everyday life and create illusory concepts to explain the reality of those who suffer the socio-environmental impacts of mining-metallurgical projects. In addittion, it is concluded that despite the economic growth generated by mining and the investment in “social” corporate policies to mitigate socio-environmental impacts in the cities surveyed the communities affected by mining-metallurgical projects continue to suffer from violations of rights and intensification of social, political, economic, cultural, territorial and labor inequalities.
