This thesis aims to analyze how to approach of murder of young in the police part of the Diário do Pará, newspaper of great circulation in the state. The Diário do Pará as a vehicle of mass communication, produces knowledge, circulates certain values, establishing regimes of truth and forging subjectivities, which are consistent with the project's political and economic (neo) liberalism. Thus, we undertook a brief analysis mapping of contemporary political and economic forces that govern the plots juveniles and other population segments that, in our analysis, underlying the rationales of the Journal of Pará in the production of news about the juvenil homicide. With the arquegenealógico method, give visibility to the network listed and non-discursive practices of newspaper, who design the place of youth, especially the poor and non-educated, to the territories of violence and criminality. Notice that in newspaper articles analyzed the death of young is produced as an occurrence at the same time impressive, because of the sensasionalist resources used in the construction of news, and justified by being inteded as a result of an juvenile trajectory who insisted on diverting the model of the good citizen (sweet and productive), to embark on the path of crime and vice. We also conclude that the practices of this paper connect to security-obsessed who have invested the whole social body and has organized from the demand for law and order.

This dissertation investigates the life of João Francisco da Cruz, a Black intellectual from the late 19th century, whose trajectory in Pará reveals the complexities of the struggles for citizenship in a society marked by slavery. Focusing on the intersection between his personal narrative and the racial tensions of the time, the study analyzes the role of the press, especially the newspaper Diário de Notícias, in constructing racial representations and ideological battles surrounding the abolition of slavery. In Pará, in the “Solicitados” section of Diário de Notícias, we found triolets that referred to “monkey”, “nigger”, “carafuz” (mulatto person), and “the most petulant Black man”, João da Cruz, used to satirize, mock, and discriminate against men of color. The research identified 102 triolets, 2 steam romances, 1 epigram, 1 sonnet, 2 short poems, 5 riddles, and 1 fable, all involving João da Cruz, between December 1882 and March 1883, reappearing between May and September 1885. From these triolets and other notes about João da Cruz, various related news articles were found, deepening the understanding of his figure. This research aims not only to map João da Cruz's achievements but also to uncover the obstacles faced by Afro-descendants in their quest for recognition and equality. By exploring notarial and periodical sources, the study highlights the strategies of overcoming adopted by João da Cruz and other Afro-descendants in a context of inequality and racial prejudice, contributing to a broader understanding of the history of Afro-descendants in Brazil and their legacies in contemporary society.

In the field of studies about the functioning of race-based affirmative programs, the research delimits the Amazon region, precisely the Federal University of Pará (UFPA), to analyze the narratives of students who entered into the university by the racial quota system and have graduated or are close to complete their graduation. Through methodology based on life stories, thirteen academics from Law, Social Sciences, Computer Engineering and Medicine were interviewed, in order to make them talk about their experiences during the graduation as black students and as racial quota beneficiaries. The conclusions of this study suggest that, referring to the thirteen students interviewed, the program of UFPA has been effective in providing for these young people the access and the successful stay at the university, although they still face financial difficulties, problems to access cultural benefits and prejudice, both because they are racial quota beneficiaries, both because they are black.

“Em busca da mancha”: a atuação policial nos bairros do Jurunas e da Batista Campos
(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2022-09-26) FERNANDES, Antonio José Martins; SOUZA, Luanna Tomaz de; http://lattes.cnpq.br/5883415348673630; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-8385-8859
The present work seeks to reflect on how the performance of the Military Police differs within the neighborhoods of Jurunas and Batista Campos, in the city of Belém-Pará. In order to carry out the research, inductive and comparative methods were adopted, based on bibliographic and documentary survey techniques, as well as semi-structured interviews with military police officers who work directly in the studied neighborhoods. The research aimed, in the first part of its development, to analyze the historical formation of the territories of the neighborhoods and the relationship with the social markers of race and class. Based on this, in the second section, it was also intended to understand the police action in these areas and how it differs according to the territory, as well as what are the most evident aspects of this differentiation. In the last part of the development, the analysis turned to the relationship of these main aspects of differentiation with the structures of class, race and, mainly, territory and how this changes the performance of the PM. This led to the conclusion that the PM, structured on the basis of inequalities of race, class and territory, works as an armed wing in the streets to guarantee the interests of the elite while promoting the control of the vulnerable population.

Entre o "Zaca” e o "Madre”: ofensas raciais, processos identitários e discursos de mestiçagem em duas escolas de Belém
(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2011) RIBEIRO, Alan Augusto Moraes; CAMPELO, Marilu Marcia; http://lattes.cnpq.br/8338592541775616
This dissertation is an ethnography of everyday school life, conceptually driven from the markers of differentiation color/race, gender, social class and sexual orientation. The motivation of the research which started production of this thesis was the following question: offensive verbal processes are identity processes that are built from referrals and educational discourses teachers in each school? Based on a research trajectory that began in 2006, initially performed in school Alexander Zacharias de Assumpção College and later extended to Madre Zarife Sales in the neighborhood of Guamá, outskirts of Belém do Pará, I try to discuss the scope of these educational institutions in the daily living out of them by their students, to identify practical dynamics of the urban life of the city from the walking to and from school. Both schools are defined as reference schools in the district as symbolized, to clients of the students they met, the possibility of post-school career success among many families in the neighborhood. Moreover, I show the internal contradictions in the two schools, to suggest the occurrence of differential access to educational services and cultural capital to own teaching as the turn is studied. Discuss clearly the occurrence of exchanges of verbal insults and non-racial race among students as markers of differentiation indicated, to try to answer the questioning of the research. Then try to identify the various modalities symbolic of discourse of mestizaje as a comprehensive discourse that is designed by me as the reverse side of the racial and verbal offenses of non-recognition of racism in them by existing institutional body, this is, by faculty, staff and managers.

This study from the description of the academic trajectory of professor Florentina da Silva Souza presents how was the entrance of the black researchers in the university courses of postgraduate. We sought from the trajectory of the researcher understand how the studies developed for black intellectuals had impacting in the fight against racial discrimination in Brazil, identifying some difficulties found by blacks in the academic space to bring the racial issue as the central object of their analysis. The clipping time of the research focuses on the end of the 1970s and the 1980s and 1990s, period in which Brazil enter into a process of democratization after military dictatorship, moment when the black movement was reorganized and developed pressuring the government for that racial issue would become part of the political agenda. In describing the academic trajectory of professor Florentina da Silva Souza was used as it arrives in port theoretical the conceptual notions of Pierre Bourdieu (2008, 2009), more specifically the concepts of habitus, field and cultural capital in order to understand the choices that guided the life of the researcher in professional terms. As the methodological approach was used the concepts of biography and context, developed by Giovanni Levi (2006), that occurs when the particulars of biography and stands in the season, the environment, factors capable to justify the attitudes of Florentina during career as a researcher. In summary, it was found with this study that the professional experience of Florentina adds to many blacks of his time and today, that although to have ascended socially and entered on the university as professor researcher, did not exempt to suffer it preconceptions, because the place of inferiority that blacks were submitted, as demonstrated in the arguments of this research was built historically by theories that placed them as "inferior beings". Although to have been disqualified, these theories still persist in the social imaginary, bringing as a consequence the preconception and discrimination which is manifested in various social institutions of the country.

The processes of exclusion of the black population in society stem from Brazil's slaveholding roots, based on theories of population whitening and racial superiority. Through a false racial democracy, these theories obstruct the access of the black population to education and health. This study aims to understand how this exclusion institutionally affects health training about the black population and access to this training. Objective: This research aims to understand the construction of knowledge and nursing training regarding the health of the black population in the Amazon. Method: It is a documentary study based on the analysis of Pedagogical Political Projects of Nursing courses in public universities in the North region. The study was theoretically based on Vygotsky's historical-social theory and Bell Hooks' concepts of transformative education, under thematic analysis according to Bardin. Results: In total, 12 PPPs were analyzed, identifying 10 curricular activities, of which 04 were about black populations and 06 were extension and research projects on the subject. From the findings, four thematic axes emerged: "Training and Health in the Amazon," "Educational Triad and Influence on Complementary Training," "Affirmative Actions and the Paradigm of Higher Education," and "Scientific and Structural Racism in the Educational Process." Final Considerations: There are deficits in health training across the entire university triad, demonstrated by low production, projects, and absence in PPPs. It is necessary to reformulate the PPPs to provide genuinely equitable and comprehensive health training and care.

Grupo de Mulheres Negras Mãe Andresa: um olhar à construção dos direitos humanos das mulheres negras a partir de suas vivências, experiências e posicionalidades
(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2017-12-05) MATOS, Marjorie Evelyn Maranhão Silva; CONRADO, Monica Prates; http://lattes.cnpq.br/6141735247260273
This dissertation analyzes the experiences, practices and positionalities of black women as markers for the construction of the human rights of black women, from the perspective of the members of the Grupo de Mulheres Negras Mãe Andresa, following three dimensions: the impact of the colonial period on the creation of racism and social sexism; the geopolitics of the place as an influence for the construction of the human rights of black women; and the sense of the geopolitics of the place in which the black women subject of the research move to their social mobility, understanding spaces as representation or subalternization. The work focuses on the Grupo de Mulheres Negras Mãe Andresa, at which the survey was conducted during the year 2017, but with a look at the historicity of the group. The methodology used was oral history, from which one could think of the need to occupy spaces of representation by the members of the group, such as the Historic Center of São Luís, in Maranhão, where its headquarters is located, to claim visibility and rights of black women, surpassing the condition of social subalternization imposed on them.

Ananse, the metamorphosis in spider of Goddess Aranã, coming from fanthi-ashanti culture, of Benin Region, in East Africa, is shown, in this paper, as the symbol metaphor of the resistance actions carried out by the Africans and their descendents in the American continent, particularly in Brazil. This way, it presents an ethnographic report of the saga of Goddess Aranã’s heirs in their fight against racism. The structure of that narrative is alike to a Theater Auto in which the antagonist character is the Racism, and the protagonist is Ananse’s heirs. The composition of that narrative starts with the assumption that the several cultures brought by the protagonist had a crucial importance in encouraging the African and their heirs’ fight, face to the wit of an antagonist capable of wearing, in time and space, many persons (masks) to confuse and weaken the protagonist speeches. However, the protagonist is also very smart in weaving his webs. Upon elaborating that narrative, the webs created by that character are recovered in order to insert, in the official Brazilian agenda the recognition of the existence of racism and racial discrimination in the society, and the state affirmative action policies, mainly, the use of the quota system to Negroes at the University. The fight is a narrative with epic characteristics which favors the role of string/action Negro movement.

A ilusão da igualdade: natureza, justiça ambiental e racismo em Belém
(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2021-07-31) MIRANDA, Thales Barroso; CARDOSO, Ana Cláudia Duarte; http://lattes.cnpq.br/3138101153535395; https://orcid.org/0000-0002-1866-453X
This master thesis comes from a concern about the lack of recognition of social and racial inequalities as structuring elements in the production of urban space in Brazil, mainly by environmental studies. Address the exploitation of the environment to achieve profit and favor certain social classes that have control of land ownership, and social and political power, it has been the most common approach in the Brazilian context. In the context of an Amazonian city like Belém, flat relief and water stand out as historically dynamic elements of urban occupation and disproportionately more severe environmental consequences for certain social groups. Thus, this master thesis aims to reveal environmental injustices and social and racial inequalities in the production of the urban space of Belém, historically marked by rentier urban growth, by territorial dispute and countless environmental consequences. The methodological procedure was diverse, first of all it started with a bibliographic review about nature, Brazilian racial issue, and the sociospatial formation of Belem. Then, it was made analysis of urban growth patterns of the metropolitan region of Belem, through digital rating techniques of orbital images, with two periods of time (1984 to 1999 and 1999 to 2018). The same period of time selected were used to analyze the urban occupation and the hydrological impacts in the river basin of the Metropolitan Region of Belem. To conclude, it was made analysis of socioeconomic, racial, environmental and urban infrastructure data of Belem. The obtained results show that there is a correlation between the urban spot, the vegetal cover and the reduction of adequate rates for the operation of river basins in the Metropolitan Region of Belem. Furthermore, it was verified that two out of three people live in the flooding area of Belem, which is mostly composed of black and low-income people. It was also verified that the overflow in the city match with the flooding susceptible areas, due to the lack of urban drainage and the incapacity of public management of the territory, masked with a speech which blames the nature. It is conclude that the environmental issues in the urban space of Belem affect unequally the population of the city and they are based on structures of political, economic and social power grounded in racism and inequality.

A imagem da negra e do negro em produtos de beleza e a estética do racismo
(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2017-06) SANT'ANA, Jonathas Vilas Boas de
This article has for purpose discuss the representation of the black population, especially black woman, in images of beauty products present at trades of Goias northeast. Becomes evident that the presence of negative stereotypes in these images disseminates racist imagery presented in the form of a racist aesthetic that conceals the exclusion and normalizes the degradation suffered by black people in Brazilian society. The analysis of the imagetical material pointed to the aesthetic devaluation of black people, especially black woman, and an idealization of beauty and whitening to be pursued through use of the products presented. The media-advertising discourse of beauty products remembers and legitimizes the practice of a racist ethics based and active in everyday life. Facing this discussion is suggested that the antiracism work, done in different social spaces, consider using strategies for an "aesthetic decolonization" that empowers the black population by means of its aesthetic value and protagonism in the construction of an ethics of diversity.

Massacre e resistência Kaiowá e Guarani: interrogações às psicologias nos traçados do intolerável
(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2013) LEMOS, Flávia Cristina Silveira; GALINDO, Dolores Cristina Gomes
This article considers critically the event massacre and the resistance of the indigenous Guarani Kaiowá against the racist practices of biopower, that are accomplished in order to guarantee the territory and their sacred land. In studies of Michel Foucault some historical and political tools that help us think about this situation and questions it in the present can be found. Racism seems to be holding such a reality and complicity with the genocide that is practiced due to the delay in carrying out the demarcation and to the negligence on the appeals of these people that have already happened in several ways. The strength of these people interpellate the psychological practices so that they are not driven as devices of ethnocidal standardization guided by pacification, that denies dissidences, or by explanations based on pathology , that deny the diversity of life as a biopower.

Mediações visíveis na cidade: olhares sobre o racismo em Belém do Pará
(Universidade Federal do Pará, 2020-09) PINHEIRO, Tainara Lúcia; RODRIGUES, Carmem Izabel
In Belém do Pará the assumption that we are a morena city for a moreno people prevails, with increasing illocutionary strength. This assumption, the result of a common sense that seeks to classify/categorize the ethno-racial mixtures produced, since the colonial context, has increasingly become a local discursive construction to accommodate the diverse and often opposite interpretations about our identity. The analysis proposed here, allows us to reflect on the construct of morenidade, this violent miscegenated identification that for a long time has been presented as a central cultural feature of the city's identity, as a local discursive construction, a representation of strong sensoryvisual appeal, whose historical-cultural interpretation is, at the same time, the result of struggle and negotiation between groups and social classes, of resistance and the imposition of forces in struggle for the classification of alterities produced alongside Amazonian ethnic racial miscegenations.

In this research, I will investigate the violence imposed on women in the racist insults present in the judgments of the Court of Justice of Pará, published between the years 2009 and 2020. For that, I will analyze the racial composition of the Court, the racist offenses judged in the judgments studied and norms for combating gender-based and racial violence. As a methodology, I will use the inductive and colored method. In addition, I will use jurisprudential, documentary, bibliographic research and content analysis of the selected decisions. First, I will address the Court’s racial profile, based on information from the census carried out by the National Council of Justice (CNJ, 2018), in the light of studies on whiteness, reflecting on the absence of black women in the judiciary. In a second moment, I will classify the offenses examined into categories, with the aim of verifying the violence that influences racist insults against black women. Finally, I will explain about the invisibility of black women in studies about the criminalization of racism, as well as in the elaboration of policies to combat gender violence and racial violence. In the end, I realized that black women suffer a specific victimization process in the context of racial crimes. Furthermore, there is a need to recognize their suffering and consider them as autonomous subjects in the discussions and in the creation of policies to combat racial violence and gender violence, at the risk of perpetuating violations, excluding them from the scope of protection. of the created measures.

In the field of studies about the functioning of racial affirmative actions, the research analyzes the narratives of thirteen students who entered UFPA through the racial quota and have already graduated or are close to complete their graduation. The conclusions of this study suggest that, regarding the students interviewed, the program of UFPA has been effective in providing these young people with access and successful stay at the university, although they still face financial difficulties, problems to access cultural benefits and prejudice, both because they are racial quota beneficiaries and because they are black.

O racismo na trajetória escolar e profissional de professoras universitárias

This research utilized an interdisciplinary theoretical and methodological apparatus and focused on social and racial disparities along the academic and professional way of female professors. Brazilian literature examined in Psychology field does not offer examples of qualitative researches about social and racial disparities with an emphasis on black and white individuals. This way, and in this context, this study was included and intended to answer the following questions: 1) are there elements which indicate social disparities structurally produced that are related to the academic and professional trajectories of individuals socially entitled as black, mulatto and white? 2) Are there elements indicating racial disparities when comparing the life trajectories of those socially entitled as blacks and mulattos to those of the ones socially called whites? Three female professors participated in this research: one socially defined as white and two socially designated as blacks (a black-skinned and a mulatto). They concluded post graduation and work in different departments in a Brazilian public university. A social demographic questionnaire and a list for completing phrases were used as information was collected. The information gathered was converted into data. Data organization included a categorization process. The results showed that poverty, indicative of social disparities, was a reality for the participants during some periods of their existential trajectories, though, when considering skin color, it was verified the existence of a connection between the participants level of poverty and her skin color, and between the participants level of poverty and career choices. The results also showed that the schooling process became their path through their professional course in life and ascending social mobility; adversities that emerged along the white, the black-skinned and the mulatto womens life were overcome through support offered by relatives and friends and through the use of personal strategies; that despite the black-skinned professor finished her academic cycle, is a qualified professional who graduated in two different courses and has a post graduation degree, she is still a target for racism, displayed either explicitly, either in disguised ways; that racism toward black individuals, expressed directly or indirectly, was addressed both to the blackskinned and the mulatto women in different episodes of their lives, while the white woman was only an observer of racial social interactions in daily basis situations; that school and family are consolidated institutions that reproduce racism against blacks; that school presented itself as a contradictory social place since, although it pursues the development of citizens, it promoted social ostracism toward the participants when they were poor children attending elementary school, putting them aside during amusing activities, collaborating to the reproduction of social disparities. The results also showed a paradox, from one hand the school is an institution responsible for the upbringing of citizens, on the other hand, it presents itself as a place for the materialization of racism expressed in social interactions among classmates or between the teacher and the student, regardless the grade in which the student is; that racism against blacks is part of a subjectivity (re)construction process, though the meanings they attribute to this process differ according to their phenotypes and experiences in social relations involving a race issue; that the participants points of view toward racism and engagement in social movements against racial discrimination are related to the way racism affected their lives, as well as to the visibility of this phenomenon in the social world and/or in their personal experiences; that being a target for racism against blacks generates singularities responsible for the constitution of the individual herself and for the construction of an ethnic identity. The results of this study will help us in the understanding of racisms social and psychological aspects, in theoretical constructions about this issue, in identifying psychological and social mechanisms of social inclusion that exclude the black, in identifying ones psychological mechanisms when facing racism, in the elaboration of strategies for racism research, in providing subsidies to the creation and execution of programs that fight racism at school through curricular and extracurricular activities.

The present work seeks to analyze the conception of self that is based on Seyla Benhabib's theory of interactive universalism, demonstrating that although it constructs new categories to interpret the theory of universalism in a more complete and complex way, it does so with an emphasis on the issue of gender, without , however, point out another device that is equally important and constitutive of the self, the device of raciality, discussed by Sueli Carneiro (2023). The reflective power of these two philosophers is crossed in order to think about a practical political philosophy that can encompass the structural issues of Brazilian society. It is for this reason that the question posed by Benhabib is reformulated in this study when he seeks to reconstitute the legacy of modern universalism, questioning “what is alive and what is dead in the moral and political universalist theories of the present after the criticisms leveled at them by communitarians, feminists and postmoderns?” (Benhabib, 2021, p. 30) for “what is alive and what is dead in the theory of interactive universalism after a critical analysis of racism?”. By demonstrating this limitation, we present how the philosophy thought by Sueli Carneiro demarcates that the formation of the identity of black people in violently racist societies, such as Brazil, goes through an overly complex combination of gender, race and class markers, which has highlighted a deficit both theoretical, as well as political practice, making it impossible to integrate the different expressions that constitute the self of black women in multiracial and pluricultural societies. Taking advantage of the model of reflection on the modern philosophical tradition, implemented by Seyla Benhabib, in which she approaches the positive points of this thought and moves away from those that she considers insufficient for the improvement of the critique of universalism, placing herself in favor and, at the same time, time, against the philosophical canon, is that we point out the problem of racial deficit in its analysis, because Benhabibi's ethics, which is based on contextsensitive universalism, which is a precursor to the continuum between the generalized other and the concrete other, needs to be interconnected with racial criticism to remedy the gap described. Thus, the question that the work raises is that the self needs to be constituted through the racial grid as much as it needs to be based on the gender grid, as this is a way of correctly embodying subjects, taking into account their contexts, your identity and more than that, opening the doors to your ability for ontic and ontological self-determination. The process of destitution of the being of black people, through epistemicide and the consequent exclusion from the educational field cannot be left out of this reflection, since they are formative for the conditions of possibility that build white supremacy, constituent of the white hegemonic Self, historically central in classical philosophical conceptual architecture, which is why the defense of quotas for admission to universities is also brought to the debate.

The aim of this paper is to discuss the theme: Education and Racial Relations, having as an investigation goal the social relations that the Afro-Brazilian students establish in the school environment from their representations. For doing so, the Pierre Bourdieu reformulations (1980, 1982, 1983,1998, 1999, 2002) about the Social Relations were adopted as well as a dialogue with the theory of Roger Chartier (1991, 1994) in the discussion of the representations as responsible classifications for the organization and apprehension of the social world (CHARTIER, 1991). These bases will be read in correlation with the contemporaneous studies about the Education and the Racial Relations (CAVALLEIRO, 2000, 2001, 2005; COELHO, 2003, 2006, 2007, 2009; GOMES, 2001, 2003, 2005, 2006). From the relations that deal with the representations world and from the propositions of Telles (2003) – for considering schools as the most important place to research about racial discrimination – The paper also aims to develop one analysis with the focus of investigating what representations the Afro-Brazilian students have about the social relations that they establish in their school. This research occurred with 7th and 8th graders, in two elementary schools located in Ananindeua which is located in the metropolitan area of Belém. The data collected through observation, questionnaire applications, and discussion groups meetings in the investigation locus. Some content analysis techniques were adopted (BARDIN, 1977) given the possibility of data comprehension that highlight other senses that underlie the messages, so that the aim of this paper is successfully established.
